Kawartha Lakes Digital Service Squad

Digital Main Street is a program and service that helps businesses achieve digital transformation. The program is built around an online learning platform, structured training programs, and a Digital Service Squad, a team of highly trained professionals who help businesses grow and manage their business through the adoption of digital tools and technology.

When businesses join Digital Main Street they have the opportunity to work with the Digital Service Squad. The Digital Service Squad can work with businesses one-on-one to activate free and easy to use tools, while also providing recommendations for other technologies.

The Digital Service Squad will provide your business with free digital transformation consulting and support. This can include but is not limited to:

  • A digital assessment of your business’ digital literacy
  • Access to a free online video-based digital transformation training program
  • Website – review, updating, creation, best practices
  • Google - set up "Google My Business" profile, and take 360 degree images
  • Social Media – support, best practices, advertising, and more
  • Technology – support and guidance for the best options of technology tools to implement for your business
  • Miscellaneous Digital Transformation Support: loyalty programs, point of sale systems, ecommerce, back-end business operations support (i.e. setting up QuickBooks etc.)

Digital Squad Member Daren Jaglall

Daren Jaglall

Daren has spent the last 4 years working towards his Marketing degree from the University of Guelph. Graduating with honors, he was able to refine his marketing skills through various courses as well as in the professional setting. He has experience running social media channels and websites for multiple employers and can offer a unique perspective for marketing online. Through his work with the Lindsay + District Chamber of Commerce, he has also been given the opportunity to work with various businesses throughout Kawartha Lakes, giving him a first-hand perspective on how business is conducted in the area.

Dylan Tamlin

Dylan is currently in his final semester of a dual major degree program focusing on e-commerce and online marketing, which he hopes will be of great use as he dives into this new role. Along with his education, Dylan has many local connections, having worked for more than the past year as the Bobcaygeon & Area Chamber Of Commerce’s marketing coordinator. Through this role, Dylan has developed a passion for helping small businesses bring their message to the wider world. He is excited to dive into this new role, and to find more ways in which he can help our local business communities grow.

The Lindsay and District Chamber of Commerce (LDCC) has been serving businesses since 1962. The Chamber leads community and business development support for over 330 member businesses and organizations. With a commitment to provide leadership, service and advocacy initiatives that enhance members’ economic prosperity. The LDCC partnered with the City as the lead funding applicant to bring the Digital Service Squad to Kawartha Lakes for 2021-22.

Ontario BIA Association OBIAA is the network that represents unique and vibrant BIAs across Ontario. The Association supports and advocates on behalf of its members through the building and nurturing of strong relationships and partnerships. OBIAA is a leader in the development and sharing of information, tools, resources and best practices, and is the ONE voice on common issues.

Digital Main Street was created by the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA) with direct support from the City of Toronto. DMS is also supported by a group of strategic business partners, including Google, Mastercard, Shopify, Microsoft, Facebook, Intuit QuickBooks, Square, Yellow Pages and Lightspeed.

Kawartha Lakes is home to four Chambers of Commerce, and one Business Improvement Area. These organizations are integral in supporting programs such has the Digital Service Squad and advocating for the economic prosperity of their members.
