Education

In Kawartha Lakes, quality education is delivered through two tax-supported school boards, one public and one Catholic. There are:

  • 23 tax-supported elementary schools (four catholic and 19 public)
  • four tax-supported secondary schools (one catholic and three public)
  • two alternate education centres
  • one post-secondary institution

Fleming College

Fleming College has campus locations in Peterborough, Lindsay, Cobourg and Haliburton. The college features more than 90 full-time programs in, Business, Community Development, Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences, Fine Arts, Health and Wellness, Law and Justice, and Technology and Skilled Trades. Fleming College has 5,700 full-time and 10,000 part-time students, and more than 58,000 alumni.

Frost Campus in Lindsay is home to Fleming College's School of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences which is internationally renowned to those in the industry.

Other Post-Secondary

The City of Kawartha Lakes is within an hour from major institutions including the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and Trent University.

Trillium Lakelands District School Board

 Trillium Lakelands District School Board is comprised of 3 secondary schools, 19 elementary schools and 2 alternative education centres. Total enrollment is approximately 7,534 students.

Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board

Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School board is comprised of 30 Catholic elementary schools and 6 Catholic secondary schools. Total enrollment is approximately 14,600 students.

French Immersion

Several schools in Kawartha Lakes offer French Immersion learning including:

  • Leslie Frost Public School
  • St. Dominic Catholic Elementary School
  • I.E. Weldon Secondary School
  • St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School

Alternate Education

There are Alternate Education Centres in Lindsay and Fenelon Falls. Students 16 years of age and older can earn credits or upgrade skills, complete a high school diploma, pursue a personal interest, explore new career options or expand knowledge and skills in a welcoming environment.
