The City offers expert support for tourism businesses in Kawartha Lakes by:

  • Attracting visitation to the area through product development and targeted marketing campaigns;
  • Providing networking and business development opportunities; and
  • Creating regional, provincial and national partnerships to develop the local tourism industry.

Family Physician Recruitment

The Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative offers a variety of incentives to practice family medicine in the City of Kawartha Lakes including:

  • Relocation costs;
  • Family practice office grant;
  • Family practice office rent grant;
  • Professional fees; and
  • Continuing medical education grant.

The City of Kawartha Lakes has enhanced its drain maintenance protocols and has made a voluntary payment to the Environmental Damages Fund in the amount of $75,000.00.  These funds will be available to fund projects within the City of Kawartha Lakes that focus on environmental restoration, environmental quality improvement, research and development, or education.

Kawartha Lakes Community Futures Development Corporation

The Kawartha Lakes CFDC has been serving local businesses for the past 30 years. The CFDC administers theEastern Ontario Development Program and has contributed more than $50 million in financial assistance within our community. Visit their website to learn more.

The Peterborough BDC Business Centre is a financial institution owned by the Government of Canada, exclusively dedicated to entrepreneurs.

Services offered by the Centre include:

  • Advisory services; and

Small Business

The Kawartha Lakes Small Business and Entrepreneurship Centre offers a variety of free services including:

  • Business feasibility guidance;
  • One-on-one business plan consultations;
  • Advice about permits, licenses and regulatory requirements;
  • Training and networking opportunities;
  • Referrals to other business support services; and
  • Coaching to help you overcome business challenges.
