The Kawartha Lakes Business Count project is a collaborative project to support local economic development.
The project provides a snapshot of the Kawartha Lakes business community and to better understand and strengthen the local economy, as well as inform policies and programs.
The geographic focus of the survey is in the downtowns and industrial areas of Bobcaygeon, Coboconk and Norland, Fenelon Falls, Lindsay, Omemee, and Pontypool. Businesses outside of those areas are encouraged to participate
How to Participate
A team of surveyors visit local businesses in the survey area by person, by phone, or email throughout the summer months to gather the information.
Thank you to all participants of the 2024 Kawartha Lakes Business Count program. The summary report will be available in 2025.
Project Partners
This project is led by the City of Kawartha Lakes in partnership with the Bobcaygeon & Area Chamber of Commerce, Coboconk, Norland & Area Chamber of Commerce, Fenelon Falls & District Chamber of Commerce, the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce, and the Lindsay Downtown BIA (LDBIA).

The information collected through the Kawartha Lakes Business Count:
- Provides a snapshot of the Kawartha Lakes economy
- Provides improved regional employment and workforce data
- Assists in making informed decisions related to job and economic growth
- Enhances communication channels between businesses and the municipality
Individual business data collected through this project is not shared publicly. Data is only shared between the City of Kawartha Lakes and the respective Chamber of Commerce and/or BIA in the area the business is located in.
