Seasonal population

The City of Kawartha Lakes welcomes more than 31,000 seasonal residents (2013 Housing Need and Demand Study) for cottage season each year.

According to the latest Stats Canada report in 2016, 1.6 million Canadian tourists visit the City of Kawartha Lakes every summer. These new residents and tourists help spur our local economy with an investment of more than $106 million each year. Sixty percent of tourists stay overnight, with an average stay of 2.4 nights. As a result, many businesses are seeking new staff. Our local Regional Tourism Organization provides a list of available seasonal positions on their website.
