Adopt-A-Road Program

Why is the program on hold?
Under the new COVID-19 protocols and respecting provincial safety regulations, the municipality is taking precautions to not further encourage outdoor gatherings.
What happens if I am already enrolled in the program and want to bring materials to the landfill?
With the program currently suspended, material drop off from the program at our landfill locations is also suspended. Regular tipping fees will apply to materials dropped off at the landfills until the program resumes.
What happens if I want to extend my current program?
The program is currently under review with administrative to ensure that safety protocols and COVID-19 regulations can be maintained should it re-open. At this point, all programs have been suspended until further notice and no extensions are being granted.

Adopt-A-Road is a public service program for volunteers to improve local litter collection activities.

It is a way for environmentally conscious individuals and groups to contribute to a cleaner and more beautiful City road system. The City will erect a sign along the designated road recognizing volunteers and volunteer groups for their efforts.

Volunteers agree to collect litter a minimum of two times per year for a period of three years on a designated area of road. We supply volunteers with garbage bags and authorization to dispose of the waste collected at City landfill sites.

For more information about the roles and responsibilities of volunteers and the City or to get an application form, please contact us.
