Human Services

On September 17, Kawartha Lakes will open the new Human Services administration office building at 68 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay. The new building is home to municipal office space for the Human Services department, where more than 70 employees will work and serve the residents of Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton. Both the Human Services office (currently at 322 Kent St. W. in Lindsay) and the Housing Help office (currently at 37 Lindsay St. S. in Lindsay) will be co-locating to the new Human Services building.

The new Human Services office will provide residents access to several services at one location during Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Residents may phone or attend the office in-person to seek assistance with the following:

  • Financial or employment assistance under the Ontario Works program
  • Child Care Fee Subsidy
  • Early Learning and Child Care Programs information
  • Licensed child care centre and home based child care waiting list
  • Community housing
  • Homelessness prevention and eviction prevention supports
  • Low income homeowner assistance
  • Finding housing
  • Kawartha Haliburton Renovates
  • First time homeowner down payment assistance
  • KLH Housing Corp. – tenant services

What's changed for residents?

The Housing and Social Services office at 322 Kent Street West, Lindsay and the Housing Help office at 37 Lindsay Street South, Lindsay will be closing. All programs and services previously available at both of these offices will be available at the new Human Services office 68 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay. This includes the offices of the KLH Housing Corp.
