Curbside collection tags

Pre-paid tags are available for mattresses, large items, Freon and extra bags of curbside waste.

Please note that our curbside collection programs are only available within the municipal boundaries of the City of Kawartha Lakes. If you’re address is in a border municipality, please contact them to see what your curbside collection options are.

Curbside mattress tags

Cost: $20 for each unit

Mattress collection must be pre-arranged with Miller Waste. Please call 705-359-1402 or 1-888-557-4711 after you purchase a tag, before placing mattresses or box springs at the curb. If placing a mattress and boxspring at the curb you must purchase two mattress tags; one for the mattress and another one for the boxspring.

Curbside large item tags

Cost: $15

Large item collection must be pre-arranged with Miller Waste. Item can weigh no more than 100kgs / 220lbs.

Freon appliance tags

Cost: $22 (+ the purchase of a large item tag)

Freon appliance collection must be pre-arranged with Miller Waste. Please call 705-359-1402  or 1-888-557-4711 after you purchase a tag, before placing appliances at the curb.

Curbside waste tags

Sheets of 5 tags are available for $20 and sheets of 10 tags are available for $40. If you do not place tags on additional bags only two bags of waste will be collected at the curb. 

How to use tags

• wrap the tag around the neck of your garbage bag and stick the ends together to form a flag
• attach the tag to the top of your garbage bag and make sure collectors can see all bag tags if you are using containers such as garbage cans
• do not use bag tags for leaf and yard waste

Where to purchase tags

Tags are sold at Municipal Service Centres, library branches and select retailers.

You can also purchase tags for mattresses, large and bulky items and Freon Items online!

Purchase Online Tags

Drivers in collection vehicles do not carry tags and cannot accept cash, tags must be purchased in advance.

All items listed below may be purchased at any City Municipal Service Centre and some library branches (Bethany, Coboconk, Fenelon Falls, Kirkfield and Woodville). Please call ahead to confirm availability as we can not guarantee to have all items in stock. Some larger items must be pre-ordered and will require 1 to 2 business days before pick-up.

Prices include tax and may be subject to change.

Please note that as of May 29, 2024, recycling boxes will no longer be available for purchase from the municipality.
