Job Summary

The Associate Director of Care is accountable for the management of the nursing department, nursing staff and resident care services in accordance with quality management, legislative requirements and the organization standards.


Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • co-ordinates, directs and monitors the effectiveness of all operational activities within the nursing department.
  • participates in the recruitment, employee and labour relations, orientation, occupational and non-occupational injury/illness, performance management, training, education and other people related functions of the home for respective department staff.
  • oversees nursing processes to ensure that all documentation is completed in a manner that maximizes base funding and ensures access to other available funding initiatives.
  • contributes to the development of job routines for all nursing personnel and adjust job routines based on resident care needs.
  • responds promptly to concerns of residents and family members, mediating a satisfactory response to concerns and implements action plans to avoid reoccurrence of similar issues.
  • performs other duties as assigned.


Key Qualifications (but not limited to)

  • Bachelor of      science – nursing or equivalent from an accredited university
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in clinical nursing in a geriatric, long-term care,      rehabilitation or chronic care setting. minimum of 3 years progressive management/leadership experience
  • Successful annual completion of RAI MDS certification as per MOHLTC requirements for AIS
  • Current basic cardiac life support certification (BCLS)
