The Kawartha Lakes Ward 5 Councillor By-Election will be begin at 9am April 1, 2025 and run until 8pm April 10, 2025 for the following office, and with the following certified candidates:

Ward Boundaries

Ward 5 is commonly described as portions of Lindsay, north of Kent Street, Riverview Road, Weldon Road, and Dew Drop Inn Road. To find out exact boundaries and if you live in Ward 5, visit www.kawarthalakes.ca/wardboundaries. Your property’s ward is also identified on your Property Tax Bill.

Voters’ List

You can verify if you are on the Voters’ List by visiting www.kawarthalakes.ca/voterslist. Physical paper copies of the list are available for viewing at City Hall, and the Lindsay Library. If you had to register to vote on Election Day at the February 27th Provincial Election, you will also likely need to register for this by-election separately.

Electronic Voting

Voting in this by-election is easy: Electors can vote using internet connected devices at home, or by receiving in-person voting assistance at City Hall or the Lindsay Library. Ward 5 electors will receive a Voting PIN Letter in the mail before April 1, 2025. Keep the Voting PIN Letter in a safe place until the Voting Period begins. This letter contains a Personal Identification Number (PIN), and instructions on how to vote. Electors can vote from where an internet connection is available during the 10 day Voting Period using internet-connected devices (such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer). There are no paper ballots or traditional polling stations. Voting proxies do not apply for this election. WIFI and public access computers may be available at other Library locations.

Voter Assistance

Voter assistance will be available during the voting period for electors that do not have access to the Internet. Touch-screen kiosks will be available during normal business/branch hours during the voting period (April 1 to 10) at the following municipal buildings:

City Hall, 26 Francis Street, Lindsay (enter using Colborne St. Doors)

Monday to Friday - 8:30 AM to 4:30PM

Extended office hours:

Saturday, April 5, 2025 – 9:00am - 1:00pm

Election Day:

Thursday, April 10, 2025 – 8:30am - 8:00pm

Lindsay Library, 190 Kent Street West, Lindsay

Monday to Thursday – 10:00am - 8:00pm

Friday to Saturday – 10:00am – 5:00pm

Election Day:
Thursday, April 10, 2025 – 10:00am - 8:00pm

Note: There is no voter assistance at old Lindsay Town Hall (180 Kent St. W.) or the Lindsay Armoury for the municipal by-election.

Didn’t Receive a Voting PIN Letter by April 1?

Starting April 1, 2025, if you have not received a Voting PIN Letter, you will be able to obtain one at City Hall during regular business hours. The Lindsay Library Branch will not be able to reproduce Voting PIN Letters. Please bring permitted ID to identify who you are, and where you reside.

Received a Voting PIN Letter for someone who no longer resides at your address?

Please help Election Staff keep the Voters’ List as accurate as possible for future elections by placing the envelope back in a Canada Post Box marked “Return to Sender – Moved” or “Return to Sender – Deceased”.

Note: In the case where one elector receives a duplicate Voting PIN Letter in error, it is against the law to vote more than once for any elected office within the same municipality. Please contact the Voter Help Desk at 705-324-9411 ext. 1888 to determine what PIN to use. Election Staff will deactivate the other PIN which is typically is associated with an invalid birthdate.

Accessibility and Long-Term Care

Information can be made available in large print by calling the Election Office. Voting places (with reduced voting hours) will also be open at institutions or retirement homes pursuant to Section 45(7) of the Municipal Election Act, 1996, but only for residents of the institution or retirement homes in Ward 5.
