Kawartha Lakes – Kawartha Lakes is embracing the spirit of diversity and inclusivity as we approach Black History Month in February 2024.
Black History Month provides an opportunity for us to reflect on the rich tapestry of Canada's history. This February, we join with communities across the nation in recognizing the resilience, achievements, and heritage of Black Canadians who have played significant roles in shaping the landscape of our country.
“As a municipality, we understand the importance of an inclusive environment that values and respects the contributions of all its members. This month, we encourage residents to take part in educational initiatives and events that highlight the achievements and struggles of the Black community,” said Mayor Doug Elmslie.
