Covid-19 Update

Kawartha Lakes - Kawartha Lakes Human Services offices are closed to the public until further notice. This includes the office at 68 Lindsay St. N. in Lindsay and at 49 Maple Ave. in Haliburton.

Services for the public are still being delivered and are available to all program recipients and tenants. New requests for service and general questions will still be received and addressed. Please see more detailed information below for programs.

Anyone wishing to contact Human Services can call the Lindsay office at 705-324-9870, or 1-877-324-9870, or the Haliburton office at 705-457-4571. Emails may also be submitted to cklhumanservices@kawarthalakes.ca. Drop boxes are also available at both offices.

Housing Services

Community Housing:
Those wishing to apply or inquire on their existing application can still do so by calling the number below or by emailing our office, our online application remains available on the municipality’s website.  

Weekly Rental Listings:
The weekly rental listing will continue to be created and is available on our website. Alternatively, if you wish to have the rental listing emailed to you, please contact our office by calling the number below or by emailing our office.

Affordable Housing Target Program:
Anyone who is interested in creating affordable housing is still welcome to submit a pre-submission application on our website. Projects that have been submitted will be held for review once the program resumes at a later date. Please contact our office by calling the number below or by emailing our office.

Homeownership Program:
The program intake for 2020 will be delayed until further notice.

Kawartha Haliburton Renovates:
The program intake for 2020 will be delayed until further notice.

Homelessness Prevention Supports:
Households requiring assistance with their rent arrears, utility arrears, last month’s rent or any other type of homelessness prevention assistance are asked to contact our office by calling the number below or by emailing our office.

Tenant Services

Rent and Arrears payments:
To help keep you from falling behind, monthly rent and rent arrears can be paid by cheque, certified cheque, money order or preauthorized debit. We are also looking into direct payment through on-line banking. For further information, please contact our office by calling the number listed below or emailing our office.

Rent Calculations and Annual Reviews:
Tenants are asked to continue to submit changes to their income or occupancy. These may be left in the drop box outside our office at 68 Lindsay St. N. in Lindsay or 49 Maple Ave. in Haliburton. They can also be mailed to KLH Housing, 68 Lindsay St. N., P.O. Box 2600, Lindsay, ON K9V 4S7. You may also email and attach your information to the email listed below or fax your information to 705-328-2875.

Tenant Concerns and Support:
Tenants can continue to call in or submit on-line tenant concerns and issues. Our Community Housing Support Workers will be available to connect with tenants over the phone to help resolve issues and assist with providing resources and supports.

Maintenance:
Tenants should continue to report all maintenance concerns which will be logged and dealt with by level of priority. For the time being, only emergency repairs will be completed until further notice.

Contractor services have been restricted to emergencies only.

Ontario Works

Current program participants should continue to contact their caseworker by phone or use the following email, cklhumanservices@kawarthalakes.ca, with any questions or to report any changes. The main office numbers remain the same: Lindsay office 705-324-9870 or Haliburton office 705-457-4571.

New applications for Ontario Works are still being received. Applications can be started online through the provincial website

You can also apply by telephone. Kawartha Lakes residents should call 705-324-9870, and press ‘2’.
Haliburton County residents call 705-457-4571 and press ‘4’.
A toll free number is also available: 1-877-324-9870.

Children’s Services

Current Child Care fee subsidy recipients should continue to contact their Needs Assessor by phone or email cklhumanservices@kawarthalakes.ca with any questions or to report any changes.

All licenced Child Care Centres in Kawartha Lakes and Haliburton County are currently closed and all Early ON programs and services are suspended.
