"Good morning,

As of 11am on March 16, our first priority as a City continues to be stopping the spread of the virus and keeping our community safe. As you’ve heard, we’ve closed arenas, we’ve closed community centres, libraries, EarlyON childcare facilities and the province has also closed courts and postponed cases until further notice.

The best way to prevent the spread of this virus continues to be to avoid close contact and to wash your hands as frequently as possible. We’re going to need to hunker down for a while, we’re going to have to change the way that we do business as residents and as a City. These are precautionary measures only and I want to stress that. There is no need to panic, there is no need to hoard things.

Take a minute today, if you would do me a favour, and thank a healthcare worker. They are going to be on the front lines of this for quite a while and we’re going to need their help to get through this.

We’re having a Council meeting tomorrow morning at 10am to update everyone on this fast-moving situation, as we move forward to get a complete update on closures and any precautionary measures we’re going to take.

The best resource for updated information continues to be our local health unit.

Have a good day and we’ll keep you posted as often as we can. Thank you."
