COVID-19 Update: May 6, 2020. A message from the Mayor

May 6, 2020. A message from the Mayor

"Good afternoon,

Today we are announcing an expansion of municipal services and residents will begin to see some restrictions being lifted that were put in place due to the pandemic.

This week,  Lindsay Transit began offering residents a modified and free “on-demand” service for essential travel – residents can call into the Transit office to schedule this service.

Another piece of good news is that effective this Friday May 8, Fire Services is lifting the burn ban. Please be responsible if you’re going to have a fire this weekend and remember that items such as grass clippings, leafs and garbage are not allowed to be burned. These should be disposed of properly at our landfills sites, which will begin to open to the public starting next week.

Our Lindsay Ops Landfill will re-open on Monday May 11, and will operate under normal hours with full services. We will also be re-opening the Fenelon and Eldon landfill sites starting May 18.

Motorized vehicles, such as ATVs and side-by-sides will be allowed on our multi-use trails starting May 12. Please ride responsibly. We will also be starting to open public boat launches on May 14. Enforcement of these openings will be in place and health and safety protocols are to be followed at all times.

We are also working with the organizers of local farmers markets and the health unit to help them open and support our local economy.

These decisions are not being made lightly. I want to remind everyone that this pandemic is far from over but if we continue to act responsibly as a community, we will be able to continue moving forward.

Stay safe and thank you."
