Kawartha Lakes – Recovering from the pandemic, the municipality is in the process of consolidating its resources to improve services. In the latest shift towards service improvement, the Customer Services Staff in Lindsay will move from 180 Kent Street West to City Hall (26 Francis Street) effective January 3, 2023. Major renovations to City Hall are also nearing completion and as a result City Hall will be officially open to the public as of January 3. All other Customer Services will continue working out of their current Municipal Service Centre locations.

“This move is much bigger than one department and we anticipate it will have a positive impact on the entire organization, in terms of the quality of response and turnaround time,” commented Steve Babcock, Manager of Customer Services, City of Kawartha Lakes. “This is just one step towards improving services and we look forward to the public’s continued support and feedback to steer us in the right direction.”

The purpose for this move is two-fold:

  • Integration of services: As a central hub and administrative arm of the municipality, City Hall will bring Customer Services closer to the delivery of essential services and towards a one-stop shop.
  • Footprint and inventory: While allowing the municipality to streamline services, this move will also offer opportunities to reduce redundancies in the footprint and for other staff like Development Services to take further advantage of the space at 180 Kent.

The municipality is moving forward with renewed focus on enhancing the customer experience. In an effort to better understand and address the needs of customers, staff are looking for feedback from the public and there will be a variety of opportunities to get involved in the months to come. The first opportunity has already launched through the Customer Experience Survey available online and for hard-copy by request until November 30, 2022. If you have not done so already, please register for Kawartha Lakes’ online engagement tool Jump In, Kawartha Lakes to stay involved.

All Municipal Service Centres are currently open for regular services, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm, and walk-in at Bobcaygeon, Coboconk, Lindsay and Omemee.
