Earth Week in Kawartha Lakes a resounding success

The Earth Week Clean Up program was a great success, with 1192 people pitching in to clean up litter from roads, parks and public spaces. This was an increase of 25% over last year. Various groups took part including schools, community groups, City staff, families and individuals.

The City of Kawartha Lakes Environmental Advisory Committee (KLEAC) hosted a very popular "Putting Down Roots" Earth Day event at the Russ Baptiste Ball Park in Fenelon Falls. More than 50 community members attended the event and planted 70 trees of various species, creating a mini forest in the community.

Thank you to all of those who worked together to help 'green and clean' Kawartha Lakes. Special thanks to the Miller Group for providing additional curbside collection.
