Housing Services hosts affordable housing information sessions in Haliburton and Fenelon Falls

Housing stock imageKawartha Lakes – Developers, community housing providers, non-profits, landlords and homeowners are invited to learn about various incentives available to create affordable housing. Incentives apply to new construction, rehabilitation, secondary suites and subsidies within market units and made available to assist Kawartha Lakes and the County of Haliburton achieve their affordable housing targets.

Housing Services is hosting two information sessions:

Haliburton

  • Where: Haliburton Legion, 719 Mountain Street
  • When: Tuesday February 11, 2020 from 2:30 to 4:30pm

Fenelon Falls

  • Where: Fenelon Falls Community Centre, 27 Veterans Way
  • When: Thursday February 13, 2020 from 5:30 to 7:30pm

Both sessions will provide details on Housing Services’ 10 Year Plan, affordable housing targets, the incentives, rents and house prices that the incentives apply to and the application process and requirements.

Affordable units are not necessarily created from purpose-built rental developments and can include housing provided by private, public and non-profit sectors. The affordable housing targets set by municipalities are only achievable with participation from developers, community housing providers, non-profits, landlords and residents. Come and learn about the incentives and how to work together to increase the supply of affordable housing.
