As we close out the 105th International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) 2024, Day 5 offers a full schedule of events to celebrate this incredible week of agriculture, community, and rural living. Today is your last chance to enjoy all that the IPM has to offer at the Lindsay Fairgrounds.
The Junior Plowing Match kicks off at 8:30am, showcasing the next generation of plowing talent. Visitors can take shuttles from Gate 2 to the plowing fields to cheer on the young competitors. In the afternoon, the Closing Ceremonies will take place at 4pm, where the flags will be passed to next year’s host community.
“Today is bittersweet as we conclude an incredible week here at the IPM,” says Bob Armstrong, Chair of the IPM. “We’ve had an amazing turnout, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped make this event a success.”
Kawartha Lakes Mayor Doug Elmslie reflected on the week, and encouraged visitors to this years IPM to return to Kawartha Lakes to enjoy more of what the community has to offer.
“The IPM has been a fantastic opportunity to showcase the best of Kawartha Lakes,” he said. “We’ve welcomed visitors from far and wide, and we hope you’ll return to explore our beautiful community, whether it’s for business or pleasure. There’s always more to see and do in Kawartha Lakes.”
Throughout the day, visitors can continue to explore Tented City, where hundreds of vendors and exhibitors will be on hand with displays, products, and activities. Don’t miss the Great Canadian Lumberjack Show and the Canadian Cowgirls, who will both be performing their final shows of the event today.
As always, there’s plenty of live music on the Ontario Mutuals Main Stage, with performances by local bands, tribute acts, and entertainers. Be sure to visit the Holmes Agro Agricultural Showcase and the Hydro One Education Centre for interactive activities and demonstrations throughout the day.
“We’re closing out the week with a bang, and we hope everyone will join us to celebrate the end of the IPM in style,” Armstrong adds.
