Kawartha Lakes – Kawartha Lakes would like to notify residents who receive their drinking water from the Pleasant Point municipal drinking water system (DWS), that there will be a temporary interruption to your water services on Tuesday October 15, 2024 between 8am and 5pm for routine maintenance.

During the interruption, Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) operators will be conducting routine watermain swabbing. Impacted residents will be receiving a hand-delivered notice from OCWA.

During the service interruption, please do not attempt to use water as sediment that is dislodged during the cleaning operations may end up in your pipes and cause obstructions.

Please ensure you have enough water on hand for the length of the service interruption. We recommend taking the following actions before 8am on Tuesday October 15:

  • Store a tap water container for drinking and cooking in the fridge
  • Fill your bathtub with water for use around the house
  • Use a pail to transfer water from the bathtub to your toilet to allow for flushing

It is also recommended that hot water tanks be turned off while this maintenance is being completed.

Once the service interruption is over, you may notice some discolouration in your water. This is normal and to be expected. Run your cold water for a few minutes for it to clear. Running your taps will also assist in removing any trapped air that may have gotten into your lines as a result of the maintenance.
