
Kawartha Lakes Canada Day closures and fireworks safety reminders
KAWARTHA LAKES— With Canada Day weekend quickly approaching, the City would like to remind residents about holiday hours at various facilities on Saturday, July 1 and Monday, July 3.
Waste and Recycling
All landfill sites will be closed Saturday, July 1. Landfill sites will return to regularly scheduled hours on Sunday, July 2. During the week of July 3, all curbside collection will take place on your regularly scheduled collection day. For more information, please refer to the 2017 Waste and Recycling Calendar.
Public Library
All branches of Kawartha Lakes Public Library will be closed Saturday, July 1 and will return to regularly scheduled hours on Monday, July 3.For more information about regular branch hours, please visit the library website at www.kawarthalakeslibrary.ca.
Municipal Service Centres
Municipal Service Centres will be closed on Monday, July 3 and will reopen Tuesday, July 4 at 8:30am.
Parks, Recreation and Culture
The Parks, Recreation and Culture Administrative Office will be closed on Monday, July 3 and return to normal business hours on Tuesday, July 4. Other Parks, Recreation and Culture hours are as follows:
- The Lindsay Recreation Complex will be closed on July 1. Summer session fitness programs and Summer Camp programs begin on Tuesday, July 4;
- Forbert Memorial Pool will be closed on July 1. Summer session aquatic programs begin on July 3 and summer session fitness programs begin on July 4;
- The Bobcaygeon Community Centre will be open on July 1 for scheduled Canada Day events;
- All other Parks and Recreation Facilities will be closed on July 1.
City Administration
All administrative offices will be closed on Monday, July 3 and will return to regular business hours on Tuesday, July 4.
A message from Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service
All residents are encouraged to be familiar with the by-laws involving the use of fireworks. Residents are entitled to use consumer fireworks purchased at a retail location on private property without a licence. A licence is required for the sale of consumer fireworks and any public displays of fireworks. Any use of display fireworks which require licensed pyrotechnics to light also require a special licence.
