Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative welcomes new family doctor to Kawartha Lakes

Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative (KLHCI) is pleased to announce that Dr. Melissa Bak has joined the practice of Dr. Peter Petrosoniak as of March 5, 2018.

Dr. Bak received her medical degree from the University of Queensland, Australia in 2014. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at McMaster University in 2017. Dr. Bak and Dr. Petrosoniak will be caring for patients presently in the practice with no new patients being accepted at this time.

Dr. Bak is the proud mother of a newborn, and she and her husband are looking forward to raising their family in the City of Kawartha Lakes. “I am looking forward to getting to know the patients in the practice, along with exploring all that the City of Kawartha Lakes has to offer”, states Dr. Bak.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Dr. Bak and Dr. Petrosoniak, to facilitate this recruitment,” states Cindy Snider, Recruitment and Retention Coordinator for KLHCI.

Dr. Petrosoniak says that “I am pleased that Dr. Bak has agreed to assist with the care of all my patients in my practice. I would like to thank KLHCI for all their assistance in facilitating Dr. Bak’s arrival.”

Sheila-Mae Young, President of KLHCI, states that, “KLHCI would like to welcome Dr. Bak to the City of Kawartha Lakes and wishes her many years of satisfaction, both personally and professionally, within the community.”

“We are very pleased Dr. Bak is joining our family health team,” states Dr. Stephen Oldridge, President of the City of Kawartha Lakes Family Health Team and the team’s Executive Director, Mike Perry. “The patients will continue to have access to all our team’s other health professionals to help both Dr. Bak and Dr. Petrosoniak to provide the highest quality of care.”

Dr. Bak will join the doctors of the City of Kawartha Lakes Family Health Team. Local doctors work with the team’s nurse practitioners, family health nurses, dietician, pharmacists, psychologist, clinical social workers, occupational therapist and respiratory therapist to provide patients with complete health care. The family health team also partners with local health organizations and offers a variety of health programs designed to help keep residents healthy.
