Kawartha Lakes moves to Step 3 of reopening on July 16

step 3 reopeningKawartha Lakes – Last week, Ontario announced the province will move into step three of their reopening plan on Friday July 16, 2021. This includes opening more indoor services, such as restaurants and fitness centres, as well as increasing gathering limits for both indoor and outdoor events.

The following municipal services will be reintroduced to the public under step three with safety measures in place:

Community centres, fitness centres, swimming pools and ice rinks

  • Effective Monday July 26, recreation facilities including complexes, community centres, arenas, halls and swimming pools will be open to 50% indoor capacity
  • Ice time can be booked at the Lindsay Recreation Complex by contacting the Facility Booking Office

Fitness memberships

  • All term memberships were extended during COVID-19 closure restrictions and monthly ongoing memberships were suspended
  • As of July 26, monthly ongoing memberships will be reactivated and monthly payments will resume

Outdoor fields, parks, splash pads, shelters, courts and programs

  • As of July 16, outdoor gathering limits are increased to 100 people
  • Fields for organized sports may be booked through the Facility Booking Office

Public Libraries

  • As of July 16, public library in-branch services will increase to 50% indoor capacity
  • Barriers have been put in place to help ensure staff and public safety

Customer Services

  • The Lindsay Municipal Service Centre and Coboconk Municipal Service Centre are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm

  • Details on the reopening of other service centres will be provided as they become available

All of the above amenities and services are subject to the following protocols:

  • Observe physical distancing, maintain a physical distance from other users of a minimum of two metres (excluding members of the same household)
  • A mask or face covering must be worn outdoors if physical distancing cannot be maintained and indoors at all times
  • Be aware of high-touch areas. Parks and sports field visitors are advised to wash/sanitize their hands before, during and after visiting
  • Do not visit if you or any members of your household are sick or not feeling well
  • Use at own risk
