Kawartha Lakes Paramedics recognized at Paramedics in the Park event

At noon, the newly formed Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Honour Guard marched into the recognition ceremony and Deputy Paramedic Chief Derek Brown presented Mayor Andy Letham with a commemorative token celebrating the 50 year anniversary of the Ambulance Act in Ontario. The Mayor and Deputy Chief then recognized four paramedics whose actions at recent calls for service made a difference and ultimately, saved lives.

Paramedics Mark Oliver, Don Young, Brent Dixon and Jason Bibeau have all served the community for over 15 years, Don Young having recently retired. In recognition of their actions, Deputy Chief Derek Brown called upon two patients who recently had heart attacks and went into cardiac arrest, before being successfully resuscitated by the Paramedics and then transported to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Each of these calls for service required a number of skills from the Paramedics and resulted in positive outcomes.
