First introduced in 1985, Ontario Public Library Week has become the annual focus for promoting and recognizing public library service in the province. Kawartha Lakes Public Library invites everyone to join us for a week filled with interesting events and special programs.
Join us for our second annual Human Library event – Courage, Compassion, Knowledge: a survival guide to conflict – on Saturday October 22 from 11am to 2pm at the Lindsay Library. A Human Library is a way for people to reach out and connect with individuals in their community that they might not come across in their daily lives. Such events promote tolerance, celebrate differences and encourage understanding.
In celebration of Small Business Week, and in cooperation with Kawartha Lakes Small Business Enterprise Centre and The Fenelon Falls Chamber of Commerce, learn how to “Put Your Business on the Map” by creating a Google business account. Drop by between 2pm and 4:30pm at the Fenelon Falls branch on Wednesday October 19 or the Lindsay branch on Thursday October 20.
Once again, in partnership with Kawartha Lakes Food Source and the Bobcaygeon Food Bank, the Library will feature “Food for Fines.” Patrons may reduce their library overdue fines with donations of non-perishable food items during Ontario Public Library Week at any Library branch. Patrons can also take advantage of the library card amnesty that also allows for free replacement of a lost or damaged library card.
For a complete listing of all Ontario Public Library Week events, please visit the library website at www.kawarthalakeslibrary.ca, contact your local library, or call Library Administration at 705 324-9411 ext. 1291.
