Kawartha Lakes Public Library presents "The Muskoka Novels: Fact in Fiction"

Research, particularly into social history, inspires her novels and Ms. Wills' presentation, "The Muskoka Novels: Fact in Fiction", includes 118 vintage and other photos to illustrate her process of turning history into story, particularly from the perspective of women. The Muskoka Trilogy covers 20 years of unprecedented changes, from the Edwardian Age of Elegance through the cataclysmic Great War and the social upheaval of the glittering Jazz Age. They are stories about a generation tested by extraordinary times.

Ms. Wills has had a varied career as an educator, literacy coordinator and website designer. She has been an active community volunteer, particularly in heritage preservation and the arts but writing fiction has always been her passion.

Her first novel, A Place to Call Home, was inspired by the rich but neglected social history of her hometown, and pays homage to the indomitable pioneers who carved thriving communities out of the inhospitable backwoods of early Canada.

Her "Muskoka Novels" sprang from her love for that magical land of granite, pines, and water, which speaks to her soul. She is currently working on Book 4 in the saga, set during WWII.

Gabriele is looking forward to being back in Lindsay and seeing familiar faces. Please join us on Wednesday April 26 at 2pm in the Meeting Room of Lindsay Library for an informative presentation following by a social time to meet the author and enjoy light refreshments.

Support for this special event has been provided by the Friends of the Lindsay Library.
