Kawartha Lakes – The Lindsay branch of the Kawartha Lakes Public Library will be closed for two weeks, starting Saturday August 31 to Saturday September 14 to replace the carpeting and do some minor renovation work in the branch.
During the week of August 26, the Lindsay branch will be open with reduced hours. Please note that during the week there will be reduced items available as staff will be packing up the books prior to renovations taking place.
Hours for August 26 to August 30
- Monday August 26 – 10am to 6pm
- Tuesday August 27 – 10am to 6pm
- Wednesday August 28 – 10am to 6pm
- Thursday August 29 – 10am to 6pm
- Friday August 30 – 10am to 5pm*
The Lindsay branch will then be closed Saturday August 31 to Saturday September 14. During the closure, the book return will be closed. All books signed out from the Lindsay Library Branch will have an extended due date. You can also visit one of our thirteen other branches to return items if you wish. And remember, we do not charge overdue fines. Please try to hold on to your books until the Library Branch re-opens in September.
All other library branches will be open regular hours during the renovation.
What renovations are happening?
The Circulation and Programs departments are getting new carpeting. This involves taking out all furniture, books, and shelves in order to complete the project.
The Programs department will also look a bit different upon your return. Some of the shelving is being replaced, and new furniture will be brought in. This will be a better layout that will allow for more space for programs, without sacrificing any of the collection. We also hope the new layout will better showcase the architectural details of this heritage building.
Will there be a disruption to library services in Lindsay?
Yes, the Lindsay Library Branch will be closed to the public from August 31 to September 14.
While the Adult collection and Reference Department, including public computers, will be available starting Monday September 16, access to the Children’s collection and Library Programs will be limited until the end of September when renovations to the Programs Department are completed.
During the closure, you are more than welcome to visit another library branch that’s close by. Click here for a complete list of locations and hours.
The Digital Library remains available 24/7 as well. Download movies, music, books and more to enjoy at home until the Lindsay Library Branch opens again in September.

Can I return items to the Lindsay branch during the closure?
No, please do not return anything to the Lindsay branch while we are closed. The outside drop box will not be available. Loan periods will be extended until September 20, so library material will not show up on your account as overdue. Additionally, the library does not charge overdue fines.
What will happen to my books that are on hold?
Holds that come in for Lindsay branch users after August 28 will be kept until the Lindsay Branch reopens later in September. Library staff will reach out at that time to advise you that holds are ready for pick up.
Will September transit passes still be available?
Transit passes will be sold at the Lindsay branch until the end of the day on Friday August 30.
Starting on Tuesday September 3, transit passes can be purchased at City Hall (26 Francis Street in Lindsay), Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Can I still access the WiFi?
Yes, the WiFi outside of the library branch will still be available during the construction.
