Kawartha Lakes –Kawartha Lakes Parks and Recreation is excited to announce the launch of its new Kawartha Swim aquatic programming which will come into affect January 2023.
The development of this new programming comes as the outcome of an announcement made earlier this year in which the municipality was informed that The Canadian Red Cross would be ending its swimming program support throughout the country by December 2022 to direct more attention to humanitarian demands.
Municipal staff in partnership with The Lifesaving Society worked closely together to develop the new Kawartha Swim programs which are set to replace The Canadian Red Cross aquatics programs which were previously offered.
Kawartha Swim programs will focus on developing strong swimmers who make smart decisions around water. Programs will be offered for Parent and Tot (4 months to 36 months of age), Pre-School (3 to 6 years of age) and School Age (5 to 14 years of age) levels.
Kawartha Swim programming will feature creative and unique new program level names that incorporate local lakes and fish species. Full program descriptions as well as helpful comparison charts which will assist in identifying the appropriate level to register for are available on the Pools and Swimming page.
