Public invited to celebrate retirement of Deputy Fire Chief Pat Twohey

Pat has officially announced his retirement from the Fire Service which will become effective September 30, 2016.

“Deputy Chief Twohey has demonstrated unwavering commitment to public safety throughout his career,” comments Kawartha Lakes Fire Chief Mark Pankhurst. “We wish him the very best in his retirement and will miss his expertise and leadership.”

Pat started his career with the Town of Lindsay Fire Department as a Volunteer Firefighter on April 1, 1980 and was hired as a Career Firefighter for the Lindsay/Ops Fire Department on August 6, 1984.

During his 36 and a half years of service Pat has successfully worked his way through the ranks, from Volunteer Firefighter, Probationary Career Fighter, Firefighter, Senior Firefighter, Captain, Deputy Fire Chief to Acting Fire Chief. He has also served on the Executive and as the President of the Lindsay Professional Firefighters Association Local 1701 for many years.

Pat was awarded The Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal and First Bar by the Governor General of Canada, in recognition of loyal and exemplary service to public safety in Canada. He was also awarded the Ontario Fire Services Long Service Medal and Second Bar by the Fire Marshal of Ontario, in sincere appreciation of courageous and faithful service to the citizens of Ontario in protecting their lives and property from fire.

The public is invited to join in congratulating Pat and his wife Lisa on a well deserved retirement. Please drop by Fire Service Headquarters located at 9 Cambridge Street North in Lindsay with well wishes between 11am and 1pm on Thursday September 29.
