Routine Watermain Flushing and Disinfection Transition in Fenelon Falls, Fall 2020

Watermain Flushing

Kawartha Lakes - The municipality would like to inform the residents of Fenelon Falls that the Water and Wastewater Division will be flushing watermains beginning Monday, October 19 2020. Crews will be working day shifts from 6:30am to 4:30pm until October 30, 2020. The Bulk water station at the Fenelon Falls Water Treatment Plant will be shut down during this time.

During the flushing process, the Fenelon Falls Water Treatment Plant will be upgrading the disinfection process and will transition to Chloramination. For more information, please see our Water and Waste Water Public Notices section of our website.

The flushing of watermains is necessary to remove sediment that gradually deposits in the pipes. There may be brief periods of time when your water becomes cloudy or discoloured; please note that this is not harmful. Simply let your cold water tap run until the water runs clear. Please check your drinking, cooking and laundry water before using.

In addition to temporary discolouration, pressure fluctuations during the flushing process may be experienced. These fluctuations will stop once flushing is completed.
