Storm Update for Kawartha Lakes – morning of April 3, 2025

storm recovery banner with tree cutting

Kawartha Lakes – The City of Kawartha Lakes Emergency Operations Centre met this morning to assess ongoing storm recovery efforts. Significant portions throughout the City remain without electricity. Our focus remains supporting those residents and communities, while clearing debris and supporting Hydro One’s efforts to bring power back online.

Key Priorities

  • Collaborating closely with a designated Hydro One representative to ensure effective coordination. Crews overnight have powered portions of Kirkfield, Coboconk, Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls and Omemee and Pontypool.
  • Clearing access routes for Hydro One, with a focus on Monck Road and other northern Kawartha Lakes roads to enable service access.
  • Prioritizing restoration of essential municipal infrastructure, including electricity for water and wastewater facilities, as well as community centres.
  • Hydro One aims to restore power in most urban centres by week’s end, while rural areas may see restoration over the weekend or possibly later.

Weather forecast: Significant rainfall expected today. Prepare for potential flooding and take caution as winds may cause further tree damage. Flood safety tips here.
