Kawartha Lakes – Our landfill hours are changing temporarily on Friday May 23, 2025.
The Lindsay Ops landfill will only be open from 8am to 11am on Friday May 23. It returns to regular hours on Saturday May 24 from 8am to 3pm.
The Somerville landfill will be closed on Friday May 23 and return to regular operating hours on Saturday May 24 from 11am to 5pm.
This is a temporary closure for operational needs. All landfills will return to regular summer hours as of Saturday May 24, 2025.
Summer landfill hours in effect as of May 1, 2025:
As of May 1, summer landfill hours are in effect at all of our landfills. The Fenelon landfill also re-opened to the public.
When visiting landfills, for your safety, please remember to wear proper footwear (certified safety footwear is best), pants and a shirt (bulky clothing may become hooked on items), and gloves.
Here is a list of the summer landfill hours:
Eldon landfill
Wednesday: 9am to 5pm
Saturday and Sunday: 11am to 5pm
Holiday Mondays (excluding Canada Day): 11am to 5pm
Fenelon landfill
Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday: 9am to 5pm
Holiday Mondays (excluding Canada Day): 9am to 5pm
Laxton/Digby landfill
Thursday and Sunday: 11am to 5pm
Holiday Mondays (excluding Canada Day): 11am to 5pm
Lindsay Ops landfill
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8am to 5pm
Saturday: 8am to 3pm
Please note that the Lindsay Ops landfill is closed Wednesdays for waste drop-off, but it will be open for free compost and wood chip pickup during regular business hours on Wednesdays.
Somerville landfill
Monday, Friday, and Saturday: 11am to 5pm
Holiday Mondays (excluding Canada Day): 11am to 5pm

Seasonal curbside waste collection returned May 5, 2025:
Curbside waste and recycling collection returned for seasonal residents the week of May 5. Please keep in mind that all waste must be disposed of in clear bags and that there is a two bag waste limit.
