Popular Wool Day Event in Fenelon Falls to be considered for grant
Kawartha Lakes – To support Kawartha Heritage’s second annual Wool Day, Kawartha Lakes will be considering giving the organization $2000 in funding to support their event as part of the Fenelon Falls C.H.E.S.T. fund.
On June 8, 2019 from 10am to 5pm, Kawartha Heritage is hosting the second annual Wool Day Event at Maryboro Lodge: The Fenelon Museum. The event includes a barbecue, sheep herding, shearing, spinning, weaving and other activities for families.
This year’s event comes after the first annual Wool Day in 2018, which was a success in both attendance and vendor sales. This year’s Wool Day also coincides with the Kawartha Yarn and Fiber Show at the Fenelon Falls Community Centre, another popular event.
The $2000 in funding was requested to go towards tents for the event, as well as the implementation of an accessible shuttle bus for those travelling between Maryboro Lodge and the Fenelon Falls Community Centre. Through this funding, visitors would be able to support the community by attending both the Wool Day Event and the Kawartha Yarn and Fiber show.
The goal of the C.H.E.S.T. Fund is to provide financial assistance to non-profit, community-based organizations that provide programs, projects, services or activities that enhance the quality of life for residents in the areas of health, arts, culture, leisure, heritage, education and the environment.
