Kawartha Lakes – It’s the fifth and final season of Downtown Lindsay construction. See below for a glance at the remaining construction work planned for Downtown Lindsay this May and June:

Phase 1 – Peel and Russell Street:

  • The work is fully complete and no further work is scheduled to take place.

Phase 2 – Lindsay Street and Kent Street (from Lindsay Street to William Street):

  • The contractor will be onsite this spring to replace some trees that have not survived.
  • The contractor will be onsite this spring to replace all rubberized mulch that has settled in the tree pits.
  • Asphalt is being monitored and if it is determined to be acceptable by mid-summer, the intention will be to place decorative impressed asphalt covering the entire intersection of Lindsay Street and Kent Street. This decorative work will be identical to the Victoria Avenue intersection and both will serve as gateway entrances to the downtown core.
  • Brick replacement on Lindsay Street is expected to take two weeks and will happen between May and June.

Phase 3 – Kent Street (from William Street to Victoria Avenue) and Cambridge Street:

  • A contractor will be onsite this spring to replace any trees that have not survived.
  • A contractor will be onsite this spring to replace all rubberized mulch that has settled in the tree pits.
  • Brick replacement expected to be ongoing for May and June.
  • There will be minor deficiency cleanup throughout the project limits.
  • Grey Brick at 180 Kent Street to be replaced (timeframe unknown at this time as it was awarded through another contract).

Phase 4 – York Street and William Street:

  • Paving the top lift of asphalt started the week of May 8; paving on William Street North and South was completed on May 12.
  • Line painting will immediately follow paving.
  • Final cleanup is expected to finish by end of June.
  • York Street South will not be paved as a conflict with Hydro One has been identified. Hydro must complete some work before the final paving can happen. Hydro schedule is unknown at this time.
