
Kawartha Lakes – Please note the following changes to our hours of operation and service schedules on Monday May 19, 2025 (Victoria Day).

Administration Offices
All Administration and Municipal Service Centres are closed during regular hours of operation on Monday May 19. Municipal Service Centres will return to regular business hours on Tuesday May 20.
Waste and Recycling
The Lindsay Ops landfill will be closed on Monday May 19. It will return to regular operating hours on Tuesday May 20.
The Fenelon landfill will be open for their regular scheduled hours on the holiday Monday from 9am to 5pm. The Eldon, Laxton and Somerville landfills will be open from 11am to 5pm on the holiday Monday.
Please remember that all curbside waste and recycling collection will shift forward a day due to Victoria Day:
- Monday May 19 collection moves to Tuesday May 20
- Tuesday May 20 collection moves to Wednesday May 21
- Wednesday May 21 collection moves to Thursday May 22
- Thursday May 22 collection moves to Friday May 23
Organics Program pick-up moves from Friday to Saturday May 24. Please be sure to have your organics rollout cart to your curb by 7am.
Public Library
All library branches will be closed on Monday May 19, with regular operating hours returning on Tuesday May 20.
Our Digital Library is open every day of the year! Library patrons can access books, audio books, magazines and research databases all online. All you need is your Kawartha Lakes Public Library card.
Lindsay Transit
There will be no Lindsay Transit or LIMO Specialized Transit service on Monday May 19.
Parks and Recreation
All Parks and Recreation facilities will be closed on Monday May 19 for Victoria Day. This includes the Administrative Office, all Recreation Centres, Arenas and Pools.
All facilities will resume regular hours on Tuesday May 20.
No aquatic classes will take place on Saturday May 17, Sunday May 18 or Monday May 19.
Public swims, skates, and fitness centres will be open for regular hours Saturday May 17 and Sunday May 18.
Short Term Rental Enforcement

Please note that during long weekends this summer, there will be By-Law Officers on staff until 1am to respond to complaints.
Fireworks Use
Fireworks may only be used on the day before, the day of, and the day after the holiday (May 18 to 20). Per By-Law 2007-236, Victoria Day weekend is the first weekend of the year where consumer fireworks are permitted without the need for a permit.
Keep in mind that fireworks are only allowed between dusk and 11pm. Fireworks require 30 metres in all directions from buildings, trees and property lines to be safely discharged. Fireworks are only be used by adults and must be discharged as directed by manufacturer instructions.
Sparklers may be used by children with close supervision by an adult, however, glow sticks are a safer alternative – sparklers can reach a temperature of 1000 degrees Celsius or more. Please do not allow children to play with sparklers unsupervised.

If you notice someone having an out of control fire or unsafely setting off fireworks, please report it right away by calling 911. For all other non-emergency fire related complaints, please call Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service at 705-324-5731 and follow the prompts.
