Swearing in of Mark Doble at podium in Council ChambersKawartha Lakes – In the regular Council meeting of April 22, 2025, Mark Doble, the newly elected Councilllor for Ward 5, was sworn in by City Clerk Cathie Ritchie. He will serve until November 2026, the remaining term of Council.

“My Dad, John Doble, was a municipal Clerk-Treasurer for the Township of Mariposa in the 70s and 80s… and my Dad taught me that public service is a responsibility, it is important, and it is a privilege,” said Councillor Doble in his first address to Council. “I want to express my sincere gratitude to the electors in Ward 5 for allowing me this privilege to be your Councillor. I look forward to working with what I consider to be an excellent team of Councillors and Mayor, for the best interests of the City of Kawartha Lakes.”

Mayor Elmslie offered congratulations, “I think you’ll find the learning curve is steep, but with the support of the Councillors and staff, you are in good hands and will have the support you need. Congratulations and welcome to Council - I look forward to working with you.”
