Water equipment salespeople not affiliated with the City

If you are approached by someone claiming to be a watermain or filtration system inspector or water meter salesperson please report the incident to local police by calling 705-324-5252 or e-mailing If you are able to get the name of the company or a business card this information may help the City pursue legal action.

Residents should be cautious about allowing strangers access to their homes and should scrutinize any photo ID carefully. City staff carry identification that includes the City logo. Also, check for City of Kawartha Lakes vehicles parked in the area to confirm the person is representing the City. When in doubt please contact the City of Kawartha Lakes Water and Wastewater Division.

Periodically, the City of Kawartha Lakes conducts lead sampling at private residences. When lead testing is undertaken, notification regarding lead testing is posted on the City’s website. There is no lead testing currently being conducted anywhere within the City of Kawartha Lakes.

The City of Kawartha Lakes provides safe drinking water to areas serviced by municipal water. The water supply meets all requirements as set out by the Safe Drinking Water Act, and Ontario Regulation 169/03 which sets limits for microbiological, chemical and radiological standards.
