Today we wish everyone in Kawartha Lakes a safe and happy Canada Day, the 2020 Way.
Over the last week, residents have shared how they plan to celebrate; many will be gathering with their social circles or enjoying time by the water, and many front line and essential workers will be going to work. Residents have helped to ‘paint the town red’ with more than 8000 mini Canadian flags that were delivered to homes across Kawartha Lakes by our Fire Rescue Service.
“Today is a day we take to celebrate with pride the country we live in, and the community we are a part of. Although we won’t be celebrating it in our traditional way, I hope everyone will get a chance to watch our Canada Day video and reflect on the ways we have come together as a community. On behalf of the entire municipality and all of Council, I wish everyone a Happy Canada Day."
- Mayor Andy Letham

Canada Day Art Project
Another exciting part of Canada Day 2020 is a temporary art installation project that’s been produced by artists across Kawartha Lakes in cooperation with the Kawartha Arts Gallery and the Kawartha Arts Network. These works of art are made from miniature Canadian flags and are featured in the Canada Day video.
