Concerts in the Park

We are pleased to announce that our annual Concerts in the Park Series is scheduled to return in the summer of 2022.

The Parks and Recreation Division will be partnering with the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce, Don't Drive Distracted - I Pinky Swear and Lindsay Dodge Chrysler Jeep to provide community members with free outdoor concerts during the summer months. These family oriented concerts provide an opportunity to develop community spirit while enjoying and supporting local musicians.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and join us for live entertainment at the Frank Banks Gazebo in Victoria Park, downtown Lindsay. Concerts are scheduled to take place on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm and Sunday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm during July and August.

All concerts will be weather permitting and held at the discretion of the performer. Schedules are subject to change. In the event of a cancellation, a sign will be posted at the Gazebo as well as an announcement made on our social media platforms. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date!

Schedule is subject to change. Concerts are weather permitting and held at the discretion of the band. In the event of a cancellation, the notice will be posted on our Social platforms and a sign will be posted at the Gazebo.

New! Kids Open Mic Performances

New for 2022, the Concerts in the Park series will introduce Youth Open Mic afternoons; these concerts will be open to local youth to showcase their talents once per month. The Youth Open Mic performances will be open to individuals 18 years of age and younger. Performers will be invited to perform 3 songs or less (15 minute sets). A PA system will be provided but performers will be required to provide any of their own additional equipment.

Youth Open Mic performances are scheduled to take place on Sunday July 10 from 2pm to 4pm and Sunday August 21 from 2pm to 4pm.

2022 Band Biographies

Sunday July 3 - Brian Wride

Brian Wride

Returning to the Concerts in the Park series, Brian Wride is an accomplished finger-style guitarist with a “voice like a minor key” who teaches music from his home in Uxbridge, Ontario. His passion is for music education but he rarely passes up an opportunity to battle stage fright. Brian performs folky interpretations of Classic Rock and obscure Canadiana, with a few instrumental guitar pieces thrown into the mix.

Shane Rosenburg photoBorn and raised in Kawartha Lakes, Shane Rosenberg grew up living the best life that being North of 7 has to offer. This songwriter brings his rural roots to light, with vivid imagery and memorable melodies. With a sound that has been compared to Darius Rucker, Chris Young and Chad Brownlee, Shane's sound draws on his love of Country, Classic Rock and the Blues and is sure to leave you wanting more.

Gary Peters is a local musician who has performed in the Series for many years. Gary enjoys playing at variety of venues in Lindsay, Oshawa, Woodville, Marmora and throughout the GTA. Gary’s repertoire is all country and much of it's traditional, satisfying crowds who come to listen to his music.

Ferrport Jazz EnsembleThe Ferrport Jazz Ensemble (FJE) from Port Perry is a 'Classic Jazz Quintet' featuring piano, upright bass, drums, guitar, and sax. With a mix from Ballads & Blues to Salsa and Swing, the FJE performs Jazz Standards from the "Great American Songbook" that are guaranteed to move your heart, your soul, and your feet.

Sunday July 31 - Two Metres Apart

Two Metres ApartThree self-proclaimed “disparate and desperate” seasoned musicians got together during the pandemic to form this trio.

Two Meters Apart features Mike on drums, Andy on guitar and vocals and John on keyboard and vocals. Performing toe tapping tunes from yesteryear like Baby Face, Five Ft. Two, The Saints, Lazy River, Tootsie and many more! There may even be time for a joke or ten at this performance which will also feature a guest performance by the Kawartha Country Cloggers.

Wednesday August 3 - Lindsay Seniors Association

Lindsay Sr Association band photoThis group of mature musicians started at the Lindsay Seniors Association and aren’t quite as young as pictured but they roll and they rock.

Featuring Paul Parker (drums and vocals), Blaine Kremer (bass), Allison Kremer (piano and vocals), Andy Smits (accordion, harmonica and vocals), Richard Neal (guitar and vocals), John Parnall (guitar, piano, uke, various ‘things’ including vocals) and Mil Sepic (guitar, banjo and vocals) performing a variety of Country, Cajun, Show tunes, The Beatles, Soul and Blues favourites.

Sunday August 7 - Blue Moose

Blue MooseThe Blue Moose band is an award winning multi-instrumental group, covering the very best of Soul, R&B, Blues and Classic Rock. This group has entertained throughout Durham Region and the GTA for over 20 years.

In addition to drums, bass and guitar, this band features a killer sax, trumpet, blues harp and keys. Covering a wide range of genres, including classic songs by The Band, Hall & Oats, John Mellencamp, Joe Cocker, Van Morrison, Jeff Healy, Powder Blues, Doobie Brothers  and more…you’d better bring your dancing shoes when the "Blue Moose” are rocking out!

Wednesday August 10 – The REACHERS

The REACHERS are a Lindsay based band, consisting of members of The Canadian Mental Health Association HKPR’s REACH for Recovery Centre. The band showcases their musical talent; defies stigma associated with mental health challenges and instills hope for recovery. Sunday August 14 – Hitcher

Hitcher band Get ready for a great time! Based in Kawartha Lakes, Hitcher is considered the premiere popular music act in the region providing hits from the '80s, '90s and '2000s.

Notorious for pumping elevated levels of energy into every show, Hitcher delivers the ultimate fun experience with their mix of Rock, Alternative, Power Pop and even a savoury side of Country. With a ton of live stage experience, Hitcher provides its trademark high-powered octane boost to any venue, and brings the fun every time.

Hitcher features, Darryl Aspin on lead vocals, Mike Rewegan on guitars, Big Rick Knoester on the drums and Brent Kehoe on bass.

Available for corporate events, pub nights, private events, weddings and anywhere an infusion of fun, energetic music is needed.

Wednesday August 17 – Parker Blvd. House Band

Parker Blvd House BandThe Parker Blvd. House Band has been in existence since 2010 and concentrates on concerts and other special events. With artists on the roster varying from year to year. Their selections run a wide range of classic hits from the '50s to present day and cover Rock, Folk, Country, Soul and Jazz.

The core members include, vocalists Paul Parker on percussion and pedal steel guitar, Andy Smits on keyboards, guitar, accordion and bass, Dennis Patterson on rhythm guitar and harmonica, Bob Caulfield on lead guitar and mandolin. Combined they have over 200 years experience in the field of music. They are often joined by guest performers Kevin Drea on jazz Guitar, Garry Kelly on bass and guitar and Parker Percussion on back up percussion and effects depending on availability.

Sunday August 28 - Jake Norris and the SideStreet Band

SideStreet Band photoJake Norris and the SideStreet Band are revitalized and ready to rock your summer! This talented group of musicians captivates their audience whether it be the bar scene, an intimate private event, or a large public venue. Offering an entertaining mix of Classic Rock, Country, and Blues these guys bring the party everywhere they go. 

Lead Vocalist, Jake Norris is sure to catch your attention with his distinctive, powerful voice and unmistakable stage presence. Jeremy VanHalteren on Lead Guitar captivates with intricate solo performances and his eclectic collection of guitars. Rev. Andrew White delights with Rhythm and Acoustic Guitar along with back up vocals. Brett McDonnell mesmerizes with smooth Bass and vocal harmony, finally Jody Anderson on Drums keeps toes tapping and offers a fourth level of harmony. 

The Band's passion for music and off-stage friendship shines through as they cover a diverse range of well loved favourites from The Hip, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Elvis to Merle Haggard, Van Morrison and much more. Wednesday August 31 – Linda ‘Pinky’ Brown and J Ezs

Join us for the final concert of our 2022 Series featuring J Ezs (6 to 7pm) and Linda ‘Pinky’ Brown (7 to 9pm)

 J Ezs

J Ezs is a local country artist, songwriter and performer. He is the Lead vocalist for the international tribute to foreigner jukebox heroes and also the Tommy Shaw in Ultimate Styx tribute to Styx he has been playing guitar and singing for many artists in Ontario and the US.

 

Linda 'Pinky' Brown, founder of Don't Drive Distracted, I Pinky Swear shows as much passion and dedication to her music as she does for her cause. When she isn't educating others about the dangers of distracted driving, Linda can be found almost anywhere there is music here in the Kawartha Lakes! From local open mic events, to bringing the joy song to seniors in long term care, from helping others learn to play an instrument to recording in her home studio, Linda brings music, her smile and most often a collection of musical instruments most everywhere she goes.
