Concerts in the Park

2018 marks the 27th anniversary of our annual summer Concerts in the Park series.

Concerts in the Park provides community members with free outdoor concerts during the summer months. These family oriented concerts provide an opportunity to develop community spirit while enjoying and supporting local musicians.

All concerts take place at the Frank Banks Gazebo in Victoria Park, downtown Lindsay. Concerts are on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm-9:00pm and Sunday afternoons from 2:00pm-4:00pm between July 4 and August 29, 2018.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and join us for live entertainment this summer.

 Wednesday, July 4, 2018 - L'll Big Band

The L'll big band is now performing in its eighteenth year. It began in 2004 and the ensemble was assembled with the intention of promoting the authentic Big Band sound. The L'll Big Band has seventeen members and the instrumentation is built upon a model popular in the Big Band Era. They specialize in performing for dances and provide hits of the famous Big Bands, often using the original arrangements made famous by bands like Count Basie, The Dorsey Brothers, Stan Kenton and Buddy Rich.

 Sunday, July 8, 2018 - Red, White and Ace

If you enjoy the sounds of Gordon Lightfoot, John Prine, the Good Brothers, Crosby, Stills and Nash with a few originals thrown in then you will love Red, White and Ace.  The group features “Red” John Gemmill (12-string guitar/vocals), Geoff White (6 string guitar/vocals),and Len “Ace” Parker (bass guitar/vocals).

Performing a variety of music ranging from the 60`s right through to today`s new music Random Selection features Melissa Claridge (guitar/vocals), Paul Claridge (lead guitar), Kyle Hurren (rhythm guitar), Darrly Adams, (drums) and Joe Hiddink (bass). If you enjoy Country to Rock and anything in between, you are bound to enjoy this band.

Wednesday, July 18, 2018 - The Maevens
Originally a Toronto based Folk-Rock band formed in 2004, influenced by artists such as Kathleen Edwards, Lucinda Williams and Sarah Harmer, lead singer/songwriter and guitarist Kelly Burrows moved back to the Kawartha Lakes in 2008. The band continued to play for a few years and took a hiatus to raise families and pursue individual musical projects. Recently, the band reunited to perform several special events and is rounded out by members Jason Lapidus (bass /vocals), Myke Mazzei (lead guitar/vocals) and Graydon James (drums/vocals). The Maevens have played in a variety of formations over the past several years and delight audiences everywhere they play with their earthy and thoughtful originals and crowd pleasing covers.

Gary Peters is a local musician who has performed in the Series for many years. Gary enjoys playing at numerous venues in Lindsay, Oshawa, Woodville, Marmora and throughout the GTA.  Gary’s repertoire is all country and much of its traditional, satisfying crowds who come to listen to his music.

 Wednesday, July 25, 2018 - Barbara Lynn Doran

With an energetic voice that demands to be heard as well as honest, soulful lyrics meant to tear at the heart strings, Brooklin, Ontario based country singer/songwriter Barbara Lynn Doran unleashes an auditory feast for her fans, giving a deep, raw, emotional energy that meets in between the most electrifying country songs and the strong, heartfelt power ballads of classic rock.

Along with recording three albums, she has most notably been placed on the Nashville Songwriters Association’s 2014 “Ones To Watch” list, has been a semi-finalist in the International Song writing Competition for two years in a row; a finalist in the Great American Song writing Competition; and was part of the first round ballot nominees in four categories at the inaugural Country Music Association of Ontario Awards.

Passport is a Classic Rock Band that has been performing for almost 25 years throughout Ontario and Manitoba.  Founding member Gord Miller on Vocals & Guitar is joined by long-time musical partner John Woodhouse on Vocals and Bass, as well as popular Lindsay musician Bob May (also on Guitar and Vocals), and John’s son, Adam Woodhouse on Drums.  

Passport’s longevity has always been a result of two simple things - a love for great rock and roll, and a love for sharing it with their audience.

After many hundreds of performances, Passport still delivers the goods with great tunes by artists such as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, Creedence, and many others.

 Wednesday, August 1, 2018 - The Nathan Bottomley Band

The Nathan Bottomley Band formed in February 2017 following Nathan's solo career. They have played a number of shows all over the Kawarthas. This year, they return to the Concerts in the Park Series to perform an assortment of Rock and Pop tunes as well as a number of originals. The band's influences include Ed Sheeran, Elton John, the Beatles, John Mayer, and the Arkells. The band features Nathan Bottomley, Martin Brien, Cole Hallman, and Hunter Peeters.

 Sunday, August 5, 2018 - Garage Escape

A self-proclaimed “group of guys playing old rock, blues and some country music in a garage”. Their musical genre can be compared to the likes of CCR, Eagles, REM, Beatles and Johnny Cash to name a few. The group is comprised of Derrick (bass/vocals), Don (guitar/lead vocals), Mike (harmonica/vocals), Tom (lead guitar/vocals), Marco (guitar/ keyboards/mandolin/ vocals) and new drummer Dave.

 Wednesday, August 8, 2018 - Emily Erhart

Emily Erhart is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Lindsay. She has performed at multiple venues including, Sounds on the Street, Boiling Over and the Peterborough Live Music Festival. She spent this past year in Toronto pursuing post-secondary education and had the opportunity of playing a few shows and open mics around the city. Emily is excited to be back for her second series and hopes to impress her audience with more originals and an inspired sound of acoustic, folk and indie.

 Sunday, August 12, 2018 - Chad Driscoll

Chad Driscoll has been a singer his whole life, at age 10 he competed and came second in the Nintendo Search for the Stars competition. By the age of 18 he had been the front man of local Peterborough bands such as Tim Styles and Fresh Illusion. He released his first written song “For You” at 18 and released it for free on Napster where it was one of the top songs downloaded for more than a week. At 21 his band Fresh Illusion was playing with bands such acts such as Cuff the Duke, Serena Ryder and Sum 41 while working on a debut album. The band broke up before the album was released. Chad joined the local band SexBomb who played the area for over 7 years. He released his first solo album ‘Unreliable Instincts’ in 2011 and now writes and releases ep and singles instead of full albums. His next song, ‘On The Ropes’ will be released Summer 2018.

The REACHERS are a Lindsay based band, consisting of members of CMHA HKPR’s REACH for Recovery Centre. The band showcases their musical talent; defies stigmas associated with mental health challenges and instills hope for recovery. The REACHERS perform original songs along with a wide variety of cover music, ranging from the 60s to now.

 Sunday, August 19, 2018 - John Sautner

Performing primarily 70’s style music. John Sautner's musical sound can be compared to that of the Hollies, John Denver and Elton John. Moving through many genres of music, his concerts feature something for all tastes. Ranging from folk to traditional rock as well as covers from many bands including The Eagles, America, Brian Adams, Jimmy Buffet and Neil Diamond. The group consists of John Sautner, Bob Sautner (drums) and Jacob McGowan (guitar). John will have his first ever original collection of songs to release in June 2018 as a CD package and online.

“Alumni” is Gord Miller performing with past and present members of his band “Passport". Over Passport’s 26 year history, many fine musicians have been members of this band, and a few times a year Gord performs with alternate members to revisit some of the 500+ songs Passport has enjoyed playing over the years. Come on out and enjoy some great Classic Rock.

Join us for a stroll down memory lane with Doug “Long Grain” Rice and friends. FlashBack! returns to the Series performing a variety of music from the 50’s, 60’s and whatever. Bring your dancing shoes as their performances tend to get the audience up and out of their chairs dancing.

Rock n Roll like it used to be back in the day. 70’s guitar rock with big vocals and lots of energy. The Lindsay based band of Cassie Noble, Daniel Greer, Jamie Robinson, Jonathan Greer, & Steve Jacket have spent the last couple years touring behind their most recent record "Electric Nights" and releasing new music steadily online. The band’s music can be found on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, and most other major platforms.
