Our Fall 2024 Community Guide is now available! This digital interactive publication highlights a variety of aquatic, fitness and leisure programs, along with information regarding our Fall Equinox Photography, Introduction to Hip Hop and Accessible Skating programs. This digital publication also includes details on our community halls, parks, trails, forest tracts, beaches, boat launches and upcoming events, such as the Indoor Triathlon.

Fall 2024 Program Registration

Registration for the Fall 2024 session will begin on Tuesday August 27, 2024 at 9am through our Online Program Registration website.

Fall programs being offered are available for viewing through our Online Program Registration website and in the Fall edition of the Kawartha Lakes Community Guide beginning Friday August 16, 2024.

Fitness Programming

All participants will be required to pre-register for Fitness programs in advance. There will no longer be a pay-as-you-go option available.

Participants can register up to 14 days in advance of Drop In Fitness Classes. Limited space is available in each class.

Effective August 31, 2020 an active Health Membership will be required to book Drop In Fitness Classes.

Fitness Program Schedules and Descriptions

We are pleased to offer a variety of Fitness programs and classes for all fitness levels and interests both at the Lindsay Recreation Complex as well at the Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre.

Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre - Member Drop In Fitness Programs (open to Members only)
  • Member Drop In Fitness Programs are not offered at the Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre.
Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre - Registered Fitness Programs (open to Members and Non-Members)
  • Participants will be required to register and pay for the entire session at the time of registration.
  • Participants in these programs will be required to register for the entire session, drop ins are not permitted.
  • All participants must pre-register for the program online prior to start date.
  • Limited space is available in all programs.

Body Sculpt

Tone and condition your muscles using a variety of tools including bars, balls, dumbbells, tubing, discs, steps functional training, and more. A full body workout suited to all levels of fitness. 

This is a Registered Fitness Program; this program is open to both Members and Non-Members.

Fitness Mix

Enjoy a workout comprised of a variety of fitness styles including hi lo, step, muscle conditioning, Yoga and more. Train your muscles and cardiovascular system while having loads of fun.

This is a Registered Fitness Program; this program is open to both Members and Non-Members.

Gentle Exercise

This class combines standing and sitting exercises to introduce or improve strength, mobility and balance. Many variations are provided to meet the needs of all participants in this minimal to low impact class.

This is a Registered Fitness Program; this program is open to both Members and Non-Members.

Pilates

Pilates is a system of controlled exercises that engage the mind and conditions the total body. This blend of strength and flexibility training improves posture, reduces stress and creates long, lean muscles.

This is a Registered Fitness Program; this program is open to both Members and Non-Members.

Lindsay Recreation Complex - Registered Fitness Programs (open to Members and Non-Members)
  • Registered Fitness Programs are open to both Health Membership holders and Non-Members, unless otherwise stated.
  • These Programs are free of charge for Members, unless otherwise stated.
  • Participants will be required to register and pay for the entire session at the time of registration.
  • Participants in these programs will be required to register for the entire session, drop ins are not permitted.

Gentle Exercise

Huff 'N' Puff

This exercise program is open to all those wanting to re-introduce, or continue gentle exercise in their life. Graduates of the Pulmonary Rehab and Cardiac Rehab class at Ross Memorial Hospital are welcome. Join our trainers for a program designed to assist in breathing techniques, chair exercises and cardiovascular machines. This is a Heart Wise Program.

This is a Registered Fitness Program; this program is open to both Members and Non-Members.

Retreads Relocated

This class is specifically designed for those individuals who have been redirected into community programming from the Ross Memorial Hospital's "Retreads" program. Working under the direct supervision of a certified trainer, you'll learn how to safely and effectively use the fitness facilities as you transition away from the hospital program. This is a Heart Wise program.

This is a Registered Fitness Program; this program is open to both Members and Non-Members.

TIME

This program is a safe, do-able, fun exercise program that is designed by Physiotherapists and led by Certified Fitness instructors. It is tailored to people who are able to walk 10 metres (30 feet) with or without a walking aid, and have orthopedic or neurological conditions such as stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, or weakness after an operation or hospital stay. This a Heart Wise program.

    Barre Fitness

    This program is a workout that combines all elements of Ballet, Barre, Pilates, functional training and stretching. Moves are choreographed with a ledge or chair, all to motivating music. This class is suitable for all fitness levels.

    Cycle Fit

    One of our Spin Instructors will lead you on the ride of your life! This ride is specifically designed for a stationary bike, choreographed to music and will take you on a journey through fitness like no other.

    Mobility and Strength

    This class will help to improve your range of motion while simultaneously conditioning your muscles. This class will make the most of your workout time while also decreasing your chance of future injuries.

    Step 'N' Sculpt

    This class is an infusion of cardio and muscle conditioning to keep you moving while using the steps as your base. This class is deceivingly low impact and the height of steps can be adjusted for your preference. No prior step experience required!

    Stretch 'N' Strength

    This class is a wonderful combination of muscle conditioning, coordination and muscle lengthening. Strength, tone and improve flexibility of the major muscle groups. Lean and long is the goal. This class is a great compliment to every workout regime. This class is a Heart Wise Program.

    TRX Suspension Training

    Suspension training is a full body workout that is sure to spice up your workout regime! In Suspension Training, participants will use the TRX suspension trainer to build strength, coordination, balance and cardiovascular health. Only have 30 minutes? We’ve got you covered with this one!

    Zumba

    Let the rhythm take over and move your body to Latin inspired music in this fun class! Suitable for all fitness levels this class will get your moving to the beat.

    Chair Yoga

    Chair Yoga is great for people with limited mobility who have trouble getting down to the floor and/or sitting on the floor. Yoga helps reduce stress and boosts mental clarity, as well as helping with pain management due to aging or chronic conditions. Yoga done regularly helps improve strength, flexibility and balance. Come and do something positive for yourself in a safe and welcoming environment. This class is a Heart Wise program.

    Sunrise Yoga

    Yoga for the early riser. Traditional Yoga poses with an emphasis on breathing, relaxation and meditation.

    Yoga Flow

    This class is suitable for all levels of yoga experience and incorporates energetic movement through a series of yoga postures with fluid physical motion with the perfect balance of effort and ease.

    Yoga Strength

    Lebert equalizers are used to both assist and challenge Yoga poses in this class. You’re getting all the benefits of our Yoga class but with more focus on improving strength.

Registration for the Summer 2025 session will begin on Tuesday June 17, 2025 at 9am through our Online Program Registration website.

Fall 2025

Registration for the Fall 2025 session will begin on Tuesday August 26, 2025 at 9am through our Online Program Registration website.

Fall programs being offered are available for viewing through our Online Program Registration website and in the Fall edition of the Kawartha Lakes Community Guide beginning Thursday August 7, 2025 at 9am.

Fitness Rules and Safety Protocols

  All Fitness Programming and facilities will adhere to specific rules and safety protocols.

Fitness Class Rules and Safety Protocols - effective March 21, 2022
  • Participants are required to pre-register for desired classes up to 14 days in advance.
  • Registered participants may arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of class, no entries will be permitted once the class has started.
  • The Lindsay Recreation Complex upper floor Fitness Change Rooms will be available for washroom, changing, locker and shower use.
  • Participants will be required to place their belongings in the appropriate indicated areas.
  • Lindsay Recreation Complex patrons will be required to remove outdoor footwear in the pool lobby area, put on indoor footwear and proceed to the Fitness Studio via the lower floor Weight Room.
  • Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre patrons will be required to remove their outdoor footwear in the front entrance area and change into their indoor shoes prior to entering the Workout Centre.
  • No spectators will be permitted. All attendees must be registered and participate in the fitness class.
  • When attending Fitness Programs and Weight Room members will need to have their Membership Cards with them in order to open Weight Room doors at the Lindsay Recreation Complex.

How to Register

Fitness class participants will be required to pre-register ahead of time for their desired class using our Online Program Registration website.

Members can register for Drop In Fitness Programs up to 14 days in advance of the class start date. Limited space will be available in each class.

Once an Online Program Registration account has been created, participants will then be able to register for Fitness Programs/Classes online.

How to Register for a Drop In Fitness Class (Members only)

Registration will take place online only for all Fitness Programs and Weight Room time blocks. An account is required in order to register online through our Online Program Registration website.

Drop In Fitness Class participants must have an active Health Membership in order to register for these classes. Members will be able to pre-register up to 14 days in advance for their desired class.

Members, follow these step by step directions to register for a Drop In Fitness Class:

  1. Once you have created an account, log in to our Online Program Registration website: https://kawarthalakes.perfectmind.com using your username and password.
  2. Click on 'Register'.
  3. Under the Drop In Program tab choose 'LRC Drop in Fitness'.
  4. Select the Drop In Program you wish to register for.
  5. Use the date calendar to select the date you wish to attend.
  6. Click on the 'Book' button.
  7. Follow all the steps through to complete your Drop In Fitness class registration. Once successfully registered, you will receive an e-mail confirming your registration. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please call 705-324-9112 to confirm booking.

How to Register for a Group Fitness Program (Members and Non-Members)

Registration will take place online only for all Fitness Programs and classes. An account is required in order to register online through our Online Program Registration website.

Group Fitness Program participants do not require a Membership in order to register for the Program.

Members and Non-Members, follow these step by step directions to register for a Group Fitness Program:

  1. Once you have created an account, log in to our Online Program Registration website: https://kawarthalakes.perfectmind.com using your username and password.
  2. Click on 'Register'.
  3. Under the Fitness & Wellness tab choose 'Group Fitness'.
  4. Select the Group Fitness Program you wish to register for.
  5. Use the date calendar to select the date you wish to attend.
  6. Click on the 'Book' button
  7. Follow all the steps through to complete your Drop In Fitness class registration. Once successfully registered, you will receive an e-mail confirming your registration. If you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, please call 705-324-9112 to confirm booking.

Members, follow these step by step directions to register for multiple drop in programs:

  1. Log in to your Online Program Registration account at: https://kawarthalakes.perfectmind.com
  2. Follow the registration process by selecting, 'Register' and selecting an activity. (If you are unsure to register for a program please visit instructions above)
  3. Add the first registration to your Cart by following the prompts. Once you see the checkout screen, do not add a payment. Instead, click the 'Continue Shopping' button under the payment section. You will then be redirected back to the 'Select an Activity Screen'. Note: you will see that you have an item in your cart and that the spot is being held.
  4. Select the additional programs or drop-in's you wish to register for and once again follow the registration process.
  5. Both registration will not be visible in the checkout screen. If you would like to add more, once again click on the 'Continue Shopping' button.
  6. Once you have all of the desired program registrations in your cart, you can proceed with processing your payment for all of the registrations in your order summary.

How do I sign up for a Membership?

Memberships for both the Lindsay Recreation Complex and the Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre are available for purchase over the phone by calling 705-324-9411 extension 1555 or extension 1560 or by calling the Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre at 705-738-5858.

Memberships can also be purchased in person at the Front Desk of the Lindsay Recreation Complex. Please call ahead to confirm Front Desk hours of operation by calling 705-324-9112.

Payment will be required at time of registration.

Is a Membership required to use the Weight Room and Workout Centre?

Yes, an active Health or Corporate Membership is required to use the Weight Room at the Lindsay Recreation Complex and an Active Health/Fitness Membership is required to access the Workout Centre at the Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre in Bobcaygeon.

Do I need to register in advance for a class or can I just drop in the day of the class?
All participants will be required to register up to 14 days in advance for their desired program. All participants must be registered ahead of time and cannot just show up to participate in a class.
Do I require a Membership to book and attend fitness classes?

An active Health or Corporate Membership will be required in order to book Drop In Fitness Classes.

A Membership is not required for Group Fitness program, unless otherwise stated. 

All Fitness programs require pre-registration to be completed online through our Online Program Registration website

Is Personal Training available?

Personal Training has resumed. For details contact the Fitness Coordinator directly by calling extension 705-324-9411 extension 1555.

Are the Squash Courts open? 

The Squash Courts at the Lindsay Recreation Complex are open. Courts are available for reservations for both members and non-members.

How to book:

  • Members can book through our Online Program Registration website, in person at the Lindsay Recreation Complex or over the phone by calling 705-324-9112.
  • Non members will be required to book in person at the Lindsay Recreation Complex or over the phone calling 705-324-9112. Payment will be required at time of booking.

Reservations are required and can be booked up to 14 days in advance.

How do I cancel a Drop In Fitness Class or a Public Swim?
If you are unable to attend a time slot that has been booked for a Drop In Fitness Class or for a Public Swim, please call either the Lindsay Recreation Complex at 705-324-9112 or the Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre at 705-738-5858 to cancel so that the spot can be opened up for another participant.
Memberships

Our Workout Centres and Fitness Programs make it easy to get fit in your community. We offer a variety of Fitness Programs, Classes and Memberships for people of all ages and abilities to help you achieve your fitness and wellness goals.

Current Members

Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre Memberships:

All term memberships were extended during the COVID-19 closure restrictions and monthly ongoing memberships were suspended. As of January 31, 2022 monthly ongoing memberships were reactivated and monthly payments will resume.

Lindsay Recreation Complex Memberships

The Lindsay Recreation Complex boasts a 25 metre 6 lane pool, a small therapeutic pool, on deck sauna, Change Room facilities and showers; 2 ice pads, a variety of aquatic and land fitness programs, a fully equipped weight training/cardiovascular fitness gym, a large bright aerobics studio with a cushioned maple floor, squash courts and community room. Residents of all fitness levels and with varying recreation interests can find something to suit them at the Lindsay Recreation Complex.

Day Passes:

Day Passes are available for the Lindsay Recreation Complex. Purchase of a Day Pass must be done in person at the Lindsay Recreation Complex, located at 133 Adelaide Street South in Lindsay during regular business hours.

  • Health Day Passes include access to the Weight Room, Land drop in classes and Public Swims that are in session that day.

Health Memberships:

Health Memberships include Swim Membership privileges, plus Weight Room/Gym access and both Drop In and Group Fitness classes/programs. HST will be added to all Membership rates.

The Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre features a three lane swimming pool and a fully equipped workout centre.  A variety of free weights, multi-station selectorized equipment, stability balls, tubing, balance boards and more are available for a full body workout. Personal Training and Fitness Consulting

We are pleased to offer Personal Training and Fitness Consulting as a specialized service to our Members. Whether it be booking an appointment for a one-on-one training session with a Certified Personal Trainer or a Semi-Private session; our Personal Trainers will help Members to set goals and achieve them. Personal Training is available both at the Lindsay Recreation Complex as well as the Forbert Memorial Pool and Workout Centre in Bobcaygeon.

Personal Training and Fitness Consulting is not included in Memberships, and is offered as a specialized service only.

Lindsay Recreation Complex Fitness Centre Policies:

  • All exercisers must wipe down equipment down with disinfectant spray provided after each use (handles, seats, backrest, consoles etc.). Please spray paper towel first, avoid spraying into the air or directly on equipment. Discard paper towel after each use.
  • Do not use facility if you are feeling sick (fever, sore throat, cough, running nose, etc.)
  • Clean, indoor footwear must be worn in all areas of the fitness facility.
  • No sandals, other 'open footwear', sock feet or bare feet will be permitted.
  • Shirts must be worn.
  • No persons under the age of 16 are permitted in the Weight Room.
  • Loitering is not permitted. Please be respectful of all facility users and move fluidly from one machine to the next.
  • Phone calls and texting is not permitted in the Weight Room.
  • For safety reasons, when wearing earbuds; please keep your music volume low enough that you can hear people speaking to you.
  • There is a 30-minute maximum on all cardio equipment. Please be respectful of the class schedule posted as equipment may be reserved during these times.
  • Spotters must be used on all heavy lifts with free weights.
  • Weights should be placed, not dropped on the floor. Machines should be used in a controlled manner.
  • Members are responsible for unloading machines and returning weights to the appropriate racks when they are finished with them.
  • No food or beverage is permitted in the Weight Room (with the exception of water)
  • No chalk in the Weight Room.
  • The use of profanity or other disrespect for fellow members of facility or staff will not be tolerated.
  • Access cards may not be shared and must be accessible to the user at all times while in the Weight Room. If asked, users must produce their access card for staff. Members that have forgotten their membership card may get a temporary access card at the Front Desk.

Failure to abide by any of these rules may result in loss of Membership with no refund.

Reservations are required and can be booked up to 14 days in advance.

Squash Box League

A Box League is an organized divisional league that encourages play among members. You will play against players that are near to your ability level. It is played based on a calendar month and it is easy for players to join or drop out as the “Boxes” are reset each month. The commitment from players is to make every effort to play your matches assigned for the month.

The way it works is quite simple, all those interested are loosely ranked according to their abilities, results of matches when possible and randomly for new or beginners. Players are broken into groups of 4 or 5 depending on the total number of participants. Each group is a “Box” that has a month to play a mini round robin among the other players in the same Box. The list and Boxes are reset each calendar month. Scheduling of matches is completely flexible and is entirely up to each player.

Each month all players in each Box will be e-mailed the contact information for other players in the same Box. You must keep track of all the game point scores, as they are needed for tiebreak determination. When you finish a match, the winner (or loser, if you agree to it) submits the scores. The results are posted on squash board so you will know your results and status during the course of the monthly cycle.

League Format:

  • Boxes will be set up monthly. Usually the boxes will be emailed and posted in the first few days of the calendar month.
  • Each Box will usually consist of 4-5 players, playing each other once during the month. The typical player will play 3-4 matches a month.
  • Game style will be “length” game, which a player only allowed to hit the ball to the back of the Court.
  • Play will be with blue single dot balls, unless mutually agreed prior to the match.
  • Each match is first to win three games. Games are to 11 points with point a rally scoring. (unless mutually agreed prior to the match to use Point on Serve scoring)

Scoring Points:

  • 1 point for showing up for the match
  • 1 point for each game won
  • 1 point for winning the match
  • The winner will have 5 points and the second player will have 3, 2 or 1 point
  • Highest total Scoring Points wins the Box
  • In the case of a tie, the winner is the winner of the head-to-head match. In a three-way tie, the winner is the player who allows the fewest points to the other players.

League Rules:

  • Generally, the winner of each Box will move up one level, while the loser will move down a level. The 2-3 remaining middle players remain in the same Box for next month’s play. The Fitness Coordinator reserves the right to change the order and ranking when determining the Boxes
  • The number of participants in the Box League may affect the players assigned to each Box each month
  • To be added or removed from the league the Fitness Coordinator needs to be contacted by 25th of the month
  • If you sign up and commit to a league spot for a month, you are expected to play your matches
  • Matches will be scheduled at a mutually agreeable time by both players
  • Matches may be played at any time during the month but must be completed and reported by the last day of the month
  • The winning player is responsible for reporting scores to the Fitness Coordinator
  • Any player who fails to show for a Box match that has been mutually scheduled will be assessed as forfeiting the match. The player who was present at the scheduled time will be allotted 3 points and the match will count as being played for that person
  • Players must complete at least one of their matches to be automatically included in the next month’s Box
  • Ensure you are familiar with the basic rules of Squash prior to participation

Refunds, Cancellations and Service Interruptions

Refunds for programs:

We reserve the right to cancel programs due to insufficient registration. In these cases a full refund/credit will be issued. Refunds/credits for any other reason are subject to approval and a 15% (minimum $5) administration fee. All requests must be made in writing to the program coordinator via e-mail to: recreation@kawarthalakes.ca. Refunds under $20 will be issued only as credit on account for future Parks and Recreation services.

Refunds for Drop In Programs:

Once a reservation has been made if you are unable to attend your scheduled booking please call 705-324-9112 to cancel your space. Due to limited spaces available, any fees paid will only be refunded as a credit on your account if the cancellation is received a minimum of 48 hours before the booking time. If cancellation is made with less than 48 hours notice fees are non-refundable.

Cancellations and Service Interruptions:

We will post all program cancellations as an alert on our website, on Facebook, and on X (formerly Twitter). Programs will not operate on statutory holidays unless otherwise stated. For details call 705-324-9112.
