Summer 2019 Community Guide Cover

A complete list of current leisure and drop in programs can be found in the latest edition of the Kawartha Lakes Community Guide.

A number of our drop in programs allow for you to drop in for an activity when you have time with no pre-registration required.

Summer 2019 Program Registration begins online Sunday, June 16, 2019 at 9am

In person registration begins Monday, June 17, 2019 at 8:30am at the Parks, Recreation and Culture Administration Office located at 50 Wolfe Street, Lindsay or at the Lindsay Recreation Complex located at 133 Adelaide Street South, Lindsay.

Leisure Programs:

Badminton -  Drop In Program

Drop in for some fun and exercise playing recreational badminton. All levels of play are welcome in this relaxed environment. Six courts are available for play on the main floor of the Victoria Park Armoury, Lindsay.

Shuttles are provided. Participants are asked to bring clean indoor athletic shoes and a badminton racquet.

Instruction is not provided for this drop in program.

Occasional cancellations may occur.

Calendars are available by contacting a Community Development Coordinator.

 

Spring 2019 Program:

Tuesdays 10:30am to 12pm (April 2 - June 18, 2019)

Wednesdays 7:30pm to 9pm (April 3 - June 26, 2019)

Location: Victoria Park Armoury, Lindsay

Cost: $4.50 per person/day

Cancellation: Wednesday, June 12, 2019.

 

This is a drop in program, pre-registration is not required. Schedule subject to change, cancellations may occur.

Women's Slo-Pitch (Ages 55+)

This recreational level softball is for women ages 55+ interested in 'slo-pitch' for fun and exercise.  This friendly, non-competitive league drafts balanced teams annually.

New players are welcome and may register any time through the season by contacting the Convenor.

Spring/Summer 2019 Session:

Date: Mondays May-September

Time: 10:30am to 12:00pm

Location: Wilson Fields, Lindsay

Cost: $60

Fees will include SPO insurance.  Players must provide their own glove and athletic shoes.

Note: there will be no games on holiday Mondays, but will play the Tuesday following.

Senior Men's Slo-Pitch (Ages 55+)

Photography - Introduction to Photographing Flowers

Learn the art of taking great pictures of flowers using nothing more than natural light. You'll learn about the equipment needed, how to shape and control natural light, and how to 'pose' the flower.

Suitable for Digital SLR cameras only. Participants must supply their own cameras.

Spring 2019 Session:

Date: Saturday, June 15, 2019

Time: 1pm to 4pm

Cost: $45 + HST per person

Location: Victoria Park Armoury, North End Room. Lindsay

Photography - Introduction to Digital SLR Camera

Digital Camera technology can be overwhelming. This hands on, comprehensive introduction to digital photography will teach you how to properly use your digital single lens reflex (SLR) camera and improve your pictures.  In this program you will learn:

  • All aspects of your camera's operation and internal settings
  • Proper digital workflow
  • Obtaining proper exposure
  • Which lens to use in various situations
  • How to use your flash properly
  • Shot composition
  • Tips and Tricks

Participants will need to provide their own camera.

Special Events:

2019 Lindsay Milk Run/KL21K Half Marathon

2019 marks the 41st Annual Lindsay Milk Run and the 3rd annual KL21K Half Marathon hosted in partnership with Jamie Schmale, MP Haliburton- Kawartha Lakes - Brock.

This annual event will feature a 5K, 10K and 21K division.

2019 Concerts in the Park

2019 marks the 28th anniversary of our annual summer Concerts in the Park series.

Concerts in the Park provides community members with free outdoor concerts during the summer months. These family oriented concerts provide an opportunity to develop community spirit while enjoying and supporting local musicians.

All concerts take place at the Frank Banks Gazebo in Victoria Park, downtown Lindsay. Concerts are on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm and Sunday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm between July 3 and August 28, 2019.
