A number of our drop in programs allow for you to drop in for an activity when you have time with no pre-registration required.

Fall 2019 Program Registration begins online Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 9am

In person registration begins Monday, August 26, 2019 at 8:30am at the Parks, Recreation and Culture Administration Office located at 50 Wolfe Street, Lindsay or at the Lindsay Recreation Complex located at 133 Adelaide Street South, Lindsay.

Leisure Programs:

Badminton -  Drop In Program

Drop in for some fun and exercise playing recreational badminton. All levels of play are welcome in this relaxed environment. Six courts are available for play on the main floor of the Victoria Park Armoury, Lindsay.

Shuttles are provided. Participants are asked to bring clean indoor athletic shoes and a badminton racquet.

Instruction is not provided for this drop in program.

Occasional cancellations may occur.

Calendars are available by contacting a Community Development Coordinator.

 

Fall 2019 Program:

Session Date: September 3, 2019 - December 19, 2019

Tuesdays 10:30am to 12pm

Wednesdays 7:30pm to 9pm

Location: Victoria Park Armoury, Lindsay

Cost: $4.50 per person/day

 

This is a drop in program, pre-registration is not required. Schedule subject to change, cancellations may occur.

Decorative Wood Sign Painting Workshop

Join Robyn Barton of 'Signs & Wine Workshops' for an evening of sign making (sorry, no wine) and refreshments. Enjoy an evening of fun and creativity and take home a masterpiece to display. Choose your sign stencil from the many Robyn has to offer, make a holiday themed sign, a welcome sign or a fun saying to hang in your home or give as a gift. Come with a friend, or in a group. This workshop makes a great holiday party night out!

Yoga in Coby

Have you ever thought about giving Yoga a try but didn't know where to start? There are so many benefits to starting a Yoga practice but taking the first step is always the hard part! This 6-week workshop-style course introduces Yoga practice in a slow, safe and supportive manner. The smaller class size allows for more individual attention, allowing students to get the basics down while addressing each student's specific physical needs, alignment issues and questions. The course explains everything you need to know from a seamless introduction to Yoga. Designed for beginners in mind but open to all levels join us to find your zen!

Photography - Introduction to Digital SLR Camera

Digital Camera technology can be overwhelming. This hands on, comprehensive introduction to digital photography will teach you how to properly use your digital single lens reflex (SLR) camera and improve your pictures.  In this program you will learn:

  • All aspects of your camera's operation and internal settings
  • Proper digital workflow
  • Obtaining proper exposure
  • Which lens to use in various situations
  • How to use your flash properly
  • Shot composition
  • Tips and Tricks

Participants will need to provide their own camera.

Photography: Shooting Video with Digital SLR Camera

You'll learn the technical aspects of shooting videos (resolution, format, lighting, focus, sound( as well as the creative tools you'll need in order to make your videos interesting and watchable. We'll also discuss the important role post production plays in editing your video and different types of software that will do this.

Photography: Fall Colours Workshop

This workshop will give participants the skills needed to capture the spectacular fall colors. You will learn the secrets to good landscape photography, what camera settings to use, positional elements, the importance of lighting, getting the proper exposure and creative tips to make your photographs more interesting and impactful. This workshop is suited to both point and shoot and digital SLR cameras.

Special Events:

2020 Lindsay Milk Run/KL21K Half Marathon

2020 will mark the 42nd Annual Lindsay Milk Run and the 4th annual KL21K Half Marathon hosted in partnership with Jamie Schmale, MP Haliburton- Kawartha Lakes - Brock.

This annual event will feature a 5K, 10K and 21K division.

2019 Concerts in the Park

2019 marks the 28th anniversary of our annual summer Concerts in the Park series.

Concerts in the Park provides community members with free outdoor concerts during the summer months. These family oriented concerts provide an opportunity to develop community spirit while enjoying and supporting local musicians.

All concerts take place at the Frank Banks Gazebo in Victoria Park, downtown Lindsay. Concerts are on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm and Sunday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm between July 3 and August 28, 2019.

2020 Lindsay Recreation Complex Indoor Triathlon

Swim, Bike, Run and take part in the 2nd annual Lindsay Recreation Complex Indoor Triathlon. Test or prepare yourself for the triathlon season. Participants will have 15 minutes for each discipline with a 10 minute transition between each wave.

Date:Sunday, March 1, 2020

Time: 8am

Location: Lindsay Recreation Complex - Pool, Studio and Weight Room

Cost: $50 for Members and $60 for Non-Members. Registration fee includes a free long sleeve Tech Tee.
