Leisure Programs and Events

In response to continuing efforts to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and support physical distancing, all recreation facilities and outdoor recreation amenities will be closed until further notice. This includes: all Arenas, Community Halls, Libraries, Recreation Centres, Pools, Museums and Service Centres.

A number of our drop in programs allow for you to drop in for an activity when you have time with no pre-registration required.

Spring 2020 Program Registration begins online Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 9am

In person registration begins Monday, March 9, 2020 at 8:30am at the Parks, Recreation and Culture Administration Office located at 50 Wolfe Street, Lindsay or at the Lindsay Recreation Complex located at 133 Adelaide Street South, Lindsay.

Leisure Programs:

Badminton -  Drop In Program

Drop in for some fun and exercise playing recreational badminton. All levels of play are welcome in this relaxed environment. Six courts are available for play on the main floor of the Victoria Park Armoury, Lindsay.

Shuttles are provided. Participants are asked to bring clean indoor athletic shoes and a badminton racquet.

Instruction is not provided for this drop in program.

Occasional cancellations may occur.

Calendars are available by contacting a Community Development Coordinator.

Cost: $4.50/per player per day

 

Winter/Spring 2020 Program:

Tuesdays 10:30am to 12pm

Session date: January 7 to May 12, 2020

 

Thursdays 10:30am to 12pm

Session date: January 9 to May 14, 2020

 

This is a drop in program, pre-registration is not required. Schedule subject to change, cancellations may occur. Price is subject to change, contact staff to confirm.

Photography - Introduction to Digital SLR Camera

Digital Camera technology can be overwhelming. This hands on, comprehensive introduction to digital photography will teach you how to properly use your digital single lens reflex (SLR) camera and improve your pictures.  In this program you will learn:

  • All aspects of your camera's operation and internal settings
  • Proper digital workflow
  • Obtaining proper exposure
  • Which lens to use in various situations
  • How to use your flash properly
  • Shot composition
  • Tips and Tricks

Participants will need to provide their own camera.

 

Spring 2020 Session:

Saturdays for 6 weeks

April 18 - May 30, 2020

Time: 9:30am-12pm

Cost: $180 + HST per person

Astrophotography Workshop

Looking for an out of this world photography workshop? In the Astrophotography Workshop participants will learn how to capture amazing photos of stars, the milky way and the moon. Learn about the equipment needed and the techniques used to beat capture photos of the night sky.

Spring 2020 Session:

Date: Monday, April 20, 2020

Time: 7pm to 9pm

Cost: $45 + HST per person

Senior Men's Slo-Pitch

This recreational level softball is for men 55+ who are interested in Slo-Pitch for fun and exercise in a friendly, less competitive league. Six teams are drafted from players returning from last year, plus new players from the City of Kawartha Lakes, where space is available. Games are played Monday mornings at 10am at Wilson Fields, Lindsay.

 

Spring/Summer 2020 Session:

Date: Mondays (May 11-Sept 14)

Time: 10am

Cost: $60 per person

Location: Wilson Fields, Lindsay (Diamonds 1, 2 and 3)

 

Registration:

Registration begins Monday, May 11 at 9:30am Wilson Fields, Lindsay in the Diamond 2 Shelter. Players are encouraged to register by e-mail.

Fees include SPO insurance, team jersey, bats and balls. Players must provide their own glove and athletic shoes.

Special Events:

2020 Lindsay Milk Run/KL21K Half Marathon

2020 will mark the 42nd Annual Lindsay Milk Run and the 4th annual KL21K Half Marathon hosted in partnership with Jamie Schmale, MP Haliburton- Kawartha Lakes - Brock.

This annual event will feature a 5K, 10K and 21K division.

2020 Concerts in the Park

2020 marks the 29th anniversary of our annual summer Concerts in the Park series.

Concerts in the Park provides community members with free outdoor concerts during the summer months. These family oriented concerts provide an opportunity to develop community spirit while enjoying and supporting local musicians.

All concerts take place at the Frank Banks Gazebo in Victoria Park, downtown Lindsay. Concerts are on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm and Sunday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm during July and August.
