A number of our drop in programs allow for you to drop in for an activity when you have time with no pre-registration required.

Winter 2019 Program Registration begins online Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 9:00am

In person registration begins Monday, December 17, 2018 at 8:30am at the Parks, Recreation and Culture Administration Office located at 50 Wolfe Street, Lindsay.

Leisure Programs:

Food to Fuel Wellness Program

This Holistic Nutrition/Weight Management Program is led by Ruby Zinsmeister,a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. This program includes a weekly meeting, food preparation tips, handouts and weigh ins.

 Two Left Feet - Adult Dance Movement Classes

Join Danielle for a fun, no experience necessary dance class. The fun Hip Hop and Jazz moves will get you moving. Dance to the music for enjoyment only.  If you pick up a few skills, then we'll consider that a bonus!

 Line Dancing

Our Line Dancing classes offer easy to learn repetitive choreography that leads to a great cardiovascular workout, increases altertness, rhythmic ability, mental acuity, balance and coordination, and not to mention it is a lot of fun!

 Badminton -  Drop In Program

Drop in for some fun and exercise playing recreational badminton. All levels of play are welcome in this relaxed environment. Six courts are available for play on the main floor of the Victoria Park Armoury, Lindsay.

Shuttles are provided. Participants are asked to bring clean indoor athletic shoes and a badminton racquet.

Instruction is not provided for this drop in program.

Occasional cancellations happen. Calendars are available by contacting a Community Development Coordinator.

Fall 2018 Program:

Tuesdays 10:30am - 12:00pm (September 4, 2018 - December 18, 2018)

Wednesdays 7:30pm - 9:00pm  (September 5, 2018 - December 19, 2018)

 Lava Bead Bracelet Making - March Break Parent/Child Session

Susan Melnick from 'Just Enough' Bling will teach you how to make your own Lava Bead and natural gemstone bracelet.

 

Youth 7-15 years of age can join an adult/parent during this March Break class where Susan will help you either make a bracelet or bookmark with your child.

Join Robyn Barton of Signs and Wine Workshops for a session of sign making (sorry, no wine) and refreshments.  Enjoy an evening of fun and creativity and take home a masterpiece to display. Supplies included in fee.

Intro to Plant Based Eating - Winter Wellness Lecture/Presentation Series

Introduction to Plant Based Eating - Health facts for you and the planet about plant based diets.  Have you grappled with the idea of reducing or eliminating meat and animal products from your diet? Think it would be too difficult? Do you have no idea how to get started? Have you wondered exactly why you should do it and what the benefits would be? Join Helen Snell; a vegan Mom, Business Woman, Presenter and Blogger with a ton of information, inspiration and more than a few great tips if the idea of plant based eating has ever sparked your interest.

Tai Yoga Massage for Couples - Winter Wellness Lecture/Presentation Series

This is the perfect date night session! Join Ruby Zinsmeister, Certified Thai Massage Practitoner for an evening of information and demonstration. Thai Massage (aka Lazy Mans Yoga) is done with clothes and on a mat. The receiver is placed in yoga-like poses and stetched in rhythmic motion using palming and compression with palms, thumbs, elbows, knees and even feet. It is practiced with Meta; loving kindness that encourages the body to heal itself. A Thai massage can reduce stress and tension and improve circulation and allow the body to move freely... A gift better than flowers or candy! This session is intended for couples. A Great Valentines Day treat.

Intro to Reiki Therapy - Winter Wellness Lecture/Presentation Series

Ever wonder exactly what Reiki is? Where it came from? What it is used for? Join Reiki Master Vicki Bruce for a learning session and some demonstrations on how Reiki can relieve stress, and bring you from disease to ease by balancing your Chakras and focussing on your 7 energy centres.

Meditation and Self Reflection Practices - Winter Wellness Lecture/Presentation Series

Join local wellness professional Alyssa Huntley for 2 sessions designed to help you become more self aware and decrease negative thinking.  Alyssa offers an in-depth informative and experiential session, exploring meditation and self-reflection.

Speaking in a class-based circle format, she'll discuss with you the misconceptions of mediation; you'll explore and experience different types of meditation , and feel out which method suits you best.

Sessions will cover:

  • breathing meditation
  • loving kindness meditation
  • mantra meditation
  • specific healing mediation (based in Neuro-Linguistic Programming)

Taking part in both sessions with Alyssa is recommended to get the most benefit.

Art for Health - Youth & Seniors Programs

Did you know that engaging in art can have calming and therapeutic benefits? Participatng in a variety of art forms such as visual art, creative writing, music and movement can lead to personal growth and improve one's quality of life physically, emotionally and socially.  Self-exploration occurs while having fun and no experience is necessary, so start your personal journey to express yourself!

Intro to Yoga in Coby

Have you thought about giving Yoga a try but didn't know where to start? There are so many benefits to starting a Yoga practice but taking the first step is the hardest part!

This 6 week, workshop style course introduces Yoga practice in a slow, safe and supportive manner. The smaller class size allows for more individual attention, allowing students to get the basics down while addressing each student's specific physical needs, alignment issues and questions.

The course explains everything you need to know for a seamless introduction to Yoga. Designed with absolute beginners in mind you will learn about the props used in Yoga, the basic poses, proper alignment, common Yoga terminology and breathing techniques.  Each class session is 90 minutes long and perfect for anyone with little or no experience, or students looking to reconnect with the fundamentals.

 Jingle Bell Beat

Join us for an art expression Holiday Workshop for children ages 6-12.  Create your own personalized percussion instrument, then shake and drum to a Christmas beat.  No experience necessary, just be ready to have fun!
