2026 Municipal Calendars are coming in December

Kawartha Lakes – Kawartha Lakes is excited to share that the 2026 Municipal Calendar is coming soon!

The 2026 Municipal Calendar includes the weekly curbside collection schedule, landfill locations and hours of operation, helpful waste tips and tricks as well as important dates for waste management and community events taking place throughout the year.

How to get your calendar

Similar to last year, the calendar will be delivered as a flyer in the December 11 edition of the Kawartha Lakes Weekly (KLW) newspaper. Delivery of the KLW newspaper happens from Tuesday to Thursday each week depending on location.

For residents that don’t receive the Kawartha Lakes Weekly newspaper, the calendar will be available at more than 70 pickup locations around the municipality, including all Municipal Service Centres and Kawartha Lakes Public Library branches. To see a full list of pickup locations, visit the municipal calendar page on the website.

What’s new this year

There are some changes coming to the recycling and organics programs, all of which are highlighted in the Municipal Calendar and the What Goes Where insert within it. Important updates include:

Curbside Recycling Program

As of January 1, 2026:

  • A new company, Emterra, will be collecting recycling from residences (Miller Waste will still be collecting garbage). Note: Garbage and recycling will continue to be picked up on the same day.

  • Commercial businesses will no longer be eligible for the curbside recycling collection program. Businesses are encouraged to make plans to hire a contractor to collect their recycling or bring it to one of the Kawartha Lakes landfills (tipping fees apply).

Also as of this date, a number of items previously placed in regular waste will move to recycling.

25th Anniversary Municipal Archive Photos

To celebrate the municipality’s 25th anniversary, this year’s calendar showcases a selection of historic photographs preserved by the City of Kawartha Lakes Municipal Archives. These images reflect the rich history of our communities, capturing everyday life, notable landmarks, and the people who shaped the former townships, villages, and the County of Victoria. By featuring these archival moments, we honour both our 25-year milestone and the deep roots that connect our past to the present.
