2024 Summer Company program wraps up for another year

Kawartha Lakes – The Kawartha Lakes Small Business Centre (KLSBC) Summer Company program has wrapped up for summer 2024 with another successful group of students graduating from the program.

Summer Company is an Ontario government program for students between ages 15 and 29 that helps them to start their own summer business. The program provides hands-on training, mentorship and financial grants of $3000.

A group of local students tried their hand at entrepreneurship this summer, thanks to their hard work and the support given to the students, six students were able to turn their business ideas into a reality this summer by operating successful summer businesses.

“While all of our Summer Company participants achieved success this summer, a few standout students surpassed expectations with record-breaking sales. Their exceptional performance demonstrates their potential to thrive as full-time entrepreneurs, should they choose to pursue it,” stated Sandy Greenberg, Kawartha Lakes Economic Development Officer - Small Business Programs.

The participants enjoyed their program experience, as stated by Brendan Marino, “I think that this program was unbelievable and I've had so much fun doing it and I'm very thankful for the opportunity. It was very cool to be a part of and if anyone's thinking of doing it in the future I'd highly recommend it.”

We want to congratulate the following students for completing the program:
