A new Cultural Centre is coming to Kawartha Lakes; visit a library to learn more
Kawartha Lakes – Kawartha Lakes is getting ready to welcome an amazing new space for artists, creatives, and the community! Plans for the first-ever Cultural Centre started being shared on March 3. Over the next four months you can learn all about it at special info sessions held at our local library branches.
"The Hub," a brand-new facility, will be a game-changer for artists, musicians, writers, and craftspeople. It will also provide space for the municipal archives, archaeology, and historical artifacts. Right now, many creative people in our community don’t have a dedicated place to work, share, and grow their talents—but that’s about to change!
What’s coming to The Hub?
- Incubation spaces to help artists turn their passion into a creative business
- Public access to municipal archives and historical artifacts, including a research room and exhibit space
- Spaces for events, meetings, rehearsals, and exhibitions
- Workshop and production spaces for Kawartha Craft Guilds
“Having a space to do what you love is an incredible feeling,” said one local artist. “Being able to share and grow with others makes it even better.”
Why this matters
Kawartha Lakes is full of talented creatives, but without the right space, it’s hard for them to stay and build their careers here. Donna Goodwin, Economic Development Officer for Arts and Culture, says, “The Hub will give artists a place to thrive, strengthening both our economy and our community.”
