Be prepared for conditions at City landfills

Kawartha Lakes – With spring nearly here, recent rain, melting snow, and fluctuating temperatures have made conditions at all City landfills soft and wet. This means the ground at the ‘tipping face’ (where larger loads are dumped directly on the ground instead of in bins), is muddy and slippery.

Residents using the tipping face should:

  • Wear sturdy, safety-approved boots
  • Only drive vehicles that can safely handle soft, wet ground
  • Use caution and follow all directions from landfill staff and equipment operators

Staying safe helps everyone and prevents damage to vehicles or the landfill site. For more information about landfill rules and how to safely dispose of your waste, visit the Landfills page.
