City Hall shines green for 4-H: Kawartha Lakes celebrates Show Your 4-H Colours Day

Kawartha Lakes – City Hall will glow green on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in celebration of Show Your 4-H Colours Day, a nationwide event recognizing the dedication and achievements of 4-H members, leaders, and alumni across Canada.

Observed annually on the first Wednesday of November, Show Your 4-H Colours Day invites Canadians to wear green and share their 4-H pride, whether in person, at school, at work, or online, to highlight the positive impact of the 4-H movement.

“We’re proud to join communities across Canada in celebrating the incredible youth and volunteers who make 4-H such a powerful force for growth and leadership,” said Mayor Doug Elmslie. “Lighting City Hall green is our way of saying thank you to those who help inspire the next generation of community leaders.”

Through hands-on learning, mentorship, and community projects, 4-H empowers young people to develop skills, confidence, and compassion, living by the motto ‘Learn To Do By Doing.’

Locally, the Kawartha Lakes Haliburton 4-H Association continues to thrive thanks to the dedication of volunteers and leaders who create welcoming spaces for youth to explore everything from agriculture to STEM, cooking, crafts, and community service. You don’t need a farming background to join — 4-H is open to all young people eager to learn, lead, and make a difference.

Visit the Kawartha Lakes Haliburton 4-H website to learn more about the opportunities available.
