Connections and Conversations welcomes Ontario Museum Association Executive Director Alison Drummond
Kawartha Lakes – Kawartha Lakes is pleased to welcome Alison Drummond, Executive Director of the Ontario Museum Association, as the featured guest for the third Connections and Conversations event of 2025.
On Tuesday September 16, 2025, Alison will lead an engaging talk about the vital role museums continue to play in our society. Her presentation, Why Museums Matter, will explore how museums remain relevant in today’s world while adapting to change.

Alison will also provide insights into the evolving priorities of government at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels: highlighting both what is shifting and what remains consistent. This discussion will look at how museums can continue serving communities meaningfully, while staying responsive to the needs of a rapidly changing society.
“Museums are more than places to preserve the past, they’re gathering spaces where communities connect, learn, and share, said Laura Love, Economic Development Officer, Curatorial Services, at City of Kawartha Lakes. “Alison’s presentation will help us reflect on how museums continue to shape our collective future.”
