Construction Notice: Colborne Street West road widening
Kawartha Lakes – Prep work has started for the Colborne Street West road widening project. Hydro One has been moving hydro poles and local internet providers are moving their infrastructure in the area as well.
The road widening contract has been awarded and the contractor began mobilizing equipment and signage in the area during the week of July 14.
The work will begin on the south side, near the multi-use trail. You may have noticed us moving some trees in the area already.
The project will increase Colborne Street West to four lanes from Highway 35 to Charles Street with dedicated turn lanes at the intersections with Highway 35, McKay Avenue, and St. Joseph Road.
This growth-related road upgrade was identified in the Transportation Master Plan and Development Charge Study for road widening and underground infrastructure upgrades.
The Colborne Street West road widening project is one of our significant capital projects for 2025 and its budget is $6.2 million.
When the construction work starts, slight delays and flagging operations should be expected.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as the project gets underway.
