Digging into the Kawarthas: June speaker event explores the region’s archaeological past
Kawartha Lakes – The City of Kawartha Lakes is pleased to welcome Dr. James Conolly, Professor of Archaeology at Trent University, as the featured guest in our Connections and Conversations speaker series this June.
Join us for an engaging evening on Tuesday, June 17, from 6pm to 8pm in the Victoria Room at City Hall (26 Francis Street, Lindsay) as Dr. Conolly presents “Digging into the Kawarthas: Uncovering Histories at Nassau Mills and Beyond.”
With academic roots in anthropology, geography, and archaeology, Dr. Conolly’s research focuses on historical ecology, blending fieldwork, material culture analysis, and environmental science. His presentation will spotlight archaeological work at Nassau Mills and historic logging sites on the Trent University campus.
Attendees will gain insight into:
- The rich and deep human history of the Kawartha region
- The vital role of waterways in shaping settlement and land use
- Recent findings from Dr. Conolly’s ongoing research with Trent University students
