Heirlooms from Home: Preserving your family treasures and memories

Kawartha Lakes – Discover how to care for your family’s treasured heirlooms at our special workshop, Heirlooms from Home. This engaging, hands-on session is perfect for anyone wanting to learn practical ways to preserve and protect cherished non-paper artifacts.

Join Laura Love, Economic Development Officer – Curatorial Services, who will guide you through essential techniques for storing, cleaning and documenting your valued items. You'll receive advice on safeguarding textiles, metal objects, ceramics, glass and wood from environmental damage.

"Heirlooms aren't just items; they carry our history, culture, and family stories," said Love. "This workshop will help attendees keep treasured memories alive for future generations, by safeguarding their family’s artifacts.”

“In addition to practical preservation methods, we'll explore the power of storytelling—helping you document not only the artifacts but also the special memories they represent. By the end of the session, you'll have the confidence and inspiration to become active stewards of your family's legacy.”

The workshop will be held on Tuesday May 13, 2025, from 6pm to 7:30pm at the Lindsay Library (190 Kent St W, Lindsay). This is a free event, but space is limited—register soon to secure your spot!

Feel free to bring your questions and, if you'd like, a small item you’re hoping to preserve.
